BMC PARTIALLY DEMOLISHES PEREIRA CHAWL AND NOW THEY ARE ALLOWED TO RECONSTRUCT Partial demolition was carried out by the BMC at Kadeshwari Mandir Road on 3rd October 2015; of an illegal construction of ground plus one floor despite a 351 BMC notice and Civil Court Order. This case has stretched for years – due to pressure from various powers-that-be. Despite of Section 351 BMC Notice for complete demolition of an illegal structure at Kadeshwari Mandir Road of Dattatray Kambli and a city court order vacating stay on the illegal structure - and full police protection your officers; Mr. Vishal Rathod and Mr. Tawde had conducted a partial demolition on 3rd October 2015 at around 12.30 pm, demolishing only a part of the first floor and the shutters on the ground floor. Why partial demolition? The whole structure is totally illegal, as per our complaint verified by a detailed BMC

351 notice. For photographs and videos of the partial BMC demolition, please visit: bandrabuzz.com/pereira-chawl-kadeshwari.html Hence, the BMC should a complete demolition at the earliest. These are ancestral East Indian lands belonging to Mary E. Pereira & were stables in the past. RECENT DEVELOPMENTS: Now, look at

the nexus between the illegal construction occupant, Chaya Kambli and the officers of H/West Ward, BMC Bandra West. The illegal construction which was partly demolished - is being reconstructed despite BMC's section 351 notice not to reconstruct, with warning to have them arrested for repeated offence. Mr. Rathod, BMC officer gives excuse in front of AMC

and DMC - that there was a breakdown of the excavator and stone pelting by Kambli family, despite police protection. The BMC officers have failed to initiate legal proceedings, under the Indian criminal procedure code. This amounts to dereliction of duty by the BMC officers of H-West Ward. Adv. Shane Cardoz

Kalanidhi - An exhibition-cum-sale of products made by differently-abled children

Bandra

Human Development Centre (HDC) is an initiative started in 2000 by Ms. Kirti Thakur & Mr. Jehangir Afshari. At a time when society was still grappling with the issues of dealing with children coping with learning disabilities, behaviour problems, cerebral palsy, autism and the like, the duo realised the need for establishing a centre for differently-abled children. Thus was born HDC with a vision to educate and also to empower adults and youth with vocational skills such training is given for making envelopes, jewellery, paper bags, showpieces, pencil stands, agarbattis, candles and numerous other products. Most of the articles prepared and designed here are sold at various exhibitions held by corporates, other NGOs, etc. During festive occasions, sweets and other food items pertaining to the festival, are

prepared and sold by them in bulk. They also undertake orders from the corporate sectors for packing & labelling, envelope & bag making, diya making, jewellery making, etc., as per their specifications. Owing to the tremendous response, Jehangir Afshari felt the need to expand, and so Little Angels School (LAS) was started in Bandra in 2002. The school is divided into Pre-primary, Primary, Secondary & Vocational Sections. In the LAS Vocational Centre, apart from all the products made by HDC Students, the LAS students also make Oil-free Pickles, Ginger ale, Sesame Groundnut Chutney & Dry Bhel Chutney, with plans to make many more similar products. In addition to Functional Academics & Academics (following NIOS Syllabus). Both Institutes have also set up In House & Out House Training for the students. In House training includes the various job orders that the school gets from the

corporate world, as mentioned above. Out House training includes Hospitality & Office sector. Executive Enclave Hotel are already training the high-functioning students at their hotel. Adhunik Utpadan, Goregaon (E), manufacturers of spares for textile machinery have taken in two of our students for training in their back office. Other institutions have also come forward to take in our students for training in different sectors. All have assured that the students will be employed if they fit the bill after the training is over. The children of Human Development Centre and Little Angels (LA) will be having an EXHIBITION-CUM-SALE for 2 days on 17th & 18th October, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the 7 Day Art Gallery, 486, Radha Narayan, 32ndrd., opp. Patwardhan Park Bandra (W), for displaying and selling the products made by them. Depending on the success of this exhibition,

Ms. Thakur and Mr. Afshari would like to open a store where the products made by the Vocational students of HDC & LAS could be displayed and sold on a yearround basis by the higher-functioning students of both institutions. This will also increase the self-confidence of their students. They would also welcome products and students of other differently-abled schools/other NGOs at this store. Both HDC & LAS are NGOs and need all the help they can get. This is where corporates can pitch in to fulfil their CSR requirements. Donations from other well-wishers would also be highly appreciated. Please contact Mrs. Kirti Thakur 9820045830 HDC, Mr. Jehangir Afshari 9820055080, Ms. Jayanti 9833652422 / 26046642 / 26495020, Ms. Shiny 26615233. Some of the products made by these children are shown below

Say “No” to the Coastal Road

Issue > Bandra Buzz

In 2011, when the then CM Mr. Prithviraj Chavan put up a proposal for the Coastal Road, Bandraites had started a signature campaign - as one of the connectors was cutting into Joggers park, a public open space. We hoped that the new government would reconsider the proposal. To our horror, we find that not only do they plan to implement it; but for some reason, they have handed over the entire project to the MCGM. Why? The estimated cost of the coastal road is Rs 12,000 crores. Less than 7% of Mumbaikars, who use motorised traffic to commute to work, will use this proposed road. To cater to such a small percentage and to use my taxes to pamper a few - is a gross injustice and a waste of public money. Instead of spending our taxes to improve public transport, you are catering to the ‘builders lobby’. The Mahalakshmi Temple, The Haji Ali Dargah and the Bandra Fort are heritage structures. The coastal road will override their identity. Citizens in Bandra have fought to save the fort. They have built promenades, using the funds of the local elected representatives. Our taxes are used sensibly and with a purpose. What will happen to these promenades, which have won international environmental awards? Several fishing communities earn their livelihood along the coast, almost 50,000 of them. The Coastal road will affect the

03

Koli Samaj, which constitutes the original settlers of Mumbai; not only in their livelihood but also their settlements. Heavy construction and reclamation will negatively impact fishing activity. The sensitive coastal ecology will be adversely affected and the thriving fishing communities of Chimbai, Khar Danda, Goregaon, Malad and Kandivali will be deprived of their livelihood. For us Mumbaikars whose staple diet is fish, this will be a disaster. Don’t make us “Shakaharis” (vegetarians) How much toll will be charged to recover the cost? A one way toll from from Kandivali to Nariman Point could be as much as Rs. 400/- Who will pay this? Take a note - The Sea-Link toll has increased, leading to the number of vehicles reducing. The total distance of the coastal road is

36 kms. To save the mangroves a few of the kms will be on stilts. The tunnels planned under Malabar Hill and Juhu Beach will do severe ecological damage – that is irreversible. In fact these are already being reconsidered after the objections are being raised. The Coastal Road Infrastructure will be a huge physical barrier that will disconnect us from our coastline. Our special identity as a Mumbaikar is threatened. The Environment Minister has claimed that there will be parks and open spaces along the road. We would like to ask him, how will the public access these places along the road? We would like to ask him, how the public will access these open spaces? By crossing six lanes of traffic? Interesting Public money to the extent of 100% is

being used for the convenience of less than 7% of the public. We must stop this wastage of public money. The Development Plan was outsourced and so is the Coastal Road. Our money being fruitlessly spent in foreign exchange, when we have excellent local expertise. This is ‘bad governance’ as there is no transparency or accountability. Are Mumbaikars being short changed for the comfort of a few? 92% of this city’s population travels by public transport. Should they be made to pay taxes for the Coastal Road, used only by a handful. A Rs 12,000 crores infrastructure project of such a scale, built with our public taxpayers money is a disaster whichever way one looks at it. Shyama Kulkarni, AGNI Trustee

Letters to the Editor

ROBBERY AT CARTER ROAD I parked my Toyota Liva car right next to the cross before Railway colony and hopped over the other side on the promenade. Was with a friend and we took seat on the concrete fence opposite Rizvi Complex. Sat for a few mins then at 5-10 ish we left. I kept my Blackberry in my lap and as I got up forgot there only to realise until I reached the car. Ran back to not find it there. Thought it must have fallen in the bed of rocks there but no luck. In fact the phone was ringing until 8 pm ish when I filed a complaint at the khar police station. A couple sitting a little away from me were helpful but couldn't offer details so as to what kind of people passed by once I left. My doubt is it may have fallen on the bed of rocks or probably on the concrete promenade. But it wasn't there. Mehul Gohil

Dear Reader, Mid October in Bandra sees us all in an increased activity mode. With the monsoon season behind us, this is the right time for ‘new beginnings’ – personal or business. Shopping sprees are witnessed all around Hill Road & Linking Road – with festive fervour adding flavour. Yet, undercurrents are at work. Activists are working hard to present the possible issues that can adversely affect Bandraites, if the Coastal Road on Mumbai’s West Coast is built. They are busy pointing out the irreversible damage this project will cause to us. People have come to realise how pointless it was to support a political party, just so that another did not deserve to win. Now, many are looking for other options, where secular ideology is practiced. Also, political parties are roping in key community people; in view of the upcoming BMC Elections in early 2017. Yes, this is prime time, when defining decisions are being taken; that will have a profound effect on all of us, in the near future. Your interactions with Bandra Buzz – in terms of highlighting issues, will surely see that wise decisions are taken, by all those

concerned. Your favourite fortnightly neighbourhood newspaper is the platform that should propel your views into news – that can be used for common benefit. Wishing you a ‘Happy Dussehra’ – and may “Good Triumph Over Evil”.

NEW KANTWADI ISSUES Some new issues have sprung up in New Kantwadi, that need public attention. A shed has come up by the road (Key Maker), near the Reliance Meter Box. This is also being used as a dumping ground for scrap. An entire family lives here – creating a nuisance. Imagine, a police was at this site, when it was being built. Another problem is parking on BOTH SIDES (Double Parking) of this narrow road, with high traffic as it leads to Perry Road. Will the concerned authorities take note of this - and act accordingly? BANDRA’S BURNING ISSUES Dear Ashish Shelar ji, a year ago we were happy to have our vote get the mandate. A year later Reclamation Slum has grown to double - bang opposite your office. First it was Mini Pakistan. Do you want an ISIS group to come up? Hawkers at Bandra Station operate till late night. Hawkers at Hill Road & Linking Road are right on the footpath. Restaurants are creating a parking chaos, with ‘Valet Parking’. Pubs and restaurants creating havoc on weekends and holidays. Paver stones on many roads either displaced or road has gone under. No road marshalls are there to monitor double parking. No special delegation for Bandra’s Redevelopment, as most if it is under CRZ. Bandra Khar Santacruz having no provisions for NO U-turns at crucial junctions. Please CLOSE the openings. Where are we standing today? Where will we be after 5 years? Dear Shelar ji we got you to the throne. Remember that we have the power to do otherwise. We are not interested in seeing BJP hoardings for Ganpati and Govinda. Kindly use that money to manage the locality. Kindly install good governance in all your departments. Your example would be much appreciated. Please set a good one, which your predecessors would envy. Please don't let us down. We’ve trusted you to perform. We need good governance. Sharad Rochlaney

Breast Cancer - Natural Prevention & Cure

Bandra

Buzz > M edical

It’s breast cancer month once again. The world celebrates this day in honor of the lives lost by this deadly cancer and organizations worldwide run awareness programs. People wear pink ribbons and thousands of campaigns run across social media networks, yet, the number of deaths increase month on month.

Are we losing the war against cancer? Over the last 7 months, I have seen and worked with over 64 cancer cases. Here are some facts in general that I have experienced. • Smoking and alcohol abuse continues to be the leading cause. • Rare cases due to over exposure to chemicals and pollutants. • Obesity and hormonal imbalance • Sedentary lifestyle • Emotional stress, internalization, holding on to grudges, unforgiveness, hatred, bitterness - seemed to be the most common of all, especially amongst Indian women. • Some cancer cases were falsely diagnosed. Chemo and radiation were administered as a ' precautionary measure'. One of the biggest problems is, people don’t change their lifestyles when suering from cancer. They believe that the chemo and radiation and crazy amount of medications will work the magic. Sadly, it will only kill them more, slowly and surely, if they do not simultaneously change their lifestyles. The reason a cancer started was due to a change in the environment of the body and cells, which could have been brought on by so many dierent reasons, and one has to understand that just medication will not help at all. You have to make changes,

important changes that re-create a healthy environment in the body, one that promotes healthy cells to re-generate and boost immunity. Lets Focus on Breast Cancer: When it comes to breast cancer, it’s important to understand that getting regular mammogram screenings is NOT going to prevent anything. In fact, mammography, which employs radiation, can increase your risk since ionizing radiation itself causes cancer. Furthermore, mammograms: • Are incorrect 80% of the time (providing a false negative or false positive). • Use compression, which can damage breast tissue or potentially spread cancer. • Are not eective for up to 50% of women (women with dense breasts or implants). • Can lead to over-diagnosis and over-treatment of non-invasive cancers. • Can lead to the disturbing practice. Natural ways to prevent Breast cancer • Regular self examination. • Believe that cancer is preventable and that cure is possible. Believe in the miracle of the human body. • Maintain great Vitamin D levels. This is extremely important. • Do not take iron supplements unless really advised by your doctor. Excess iron in the body has direct links to breast cancer. • Turmeric / curcumin can slash your risk by almost 50%. • Add ax seeds to your daily diet. These wonder seeds slash your risk and aid in the cure of breast cancer. • Do not wear under wire bra’s. This blocks circulation and prevents your lymph nodes from proper drainage, leading to toxin build up.

• Massage your breasts regularly, especially end of day to stimulate circulation. • Be mindful of constipation. Almost all cases of breast cancer were linked to issues with constipation and toxin build up. • Wear natural fabrics. The skin is your largest organ of elimination and detoxiďŹ cation. Natural fabrics allow the skin to breathe. Avoid dry-cleaning whenever possible. Carcinogenic chemicals from dry cleaning can enter your system through your skin. If you must dry clean, air out garments before wearing. • Do not use any harsh anti-perspirants, deodorants, soaps, detergents, lotion, makeup, hair dye, etc. Every chemical you put on your skin enters your body, thus increasing detoxiďŹ cation requirements on your liver. • Aromatic amines in hair dyes and straightening procedures are extremely toxic and get absorbed into the body.

• Acrylamide in tobacco smoke causes breast cancer. • Anti-depressants come with severe side eects and every pill you take could be increasing your risk of breast cancer. Begin to believe that the human body, your body is capable of repair and rejuvenation when we create the right environment for that change to happen. Can plants grown in darkness? No. We let in the sun, change the environment and they begin to grow. Nature. Your health is your responsibility. Don't put that responsibility in the hands of a doctor, nutritionist, trainer, healer, etc. They are guides and coaches, but you are still responsible for your own health and what you do. ers are much softer and designed to strengthen their muscles and expand their jaws and are called Myofunctional appliances. Dr. Ganatra highlights, “For a child, the gums, tongue, jaws, teeth and muscles need to develop properly. So these aligners help to get all muscles in motion. And again there is no pain caused to the kid in any way as there is no surgery no extraction in aligning the teeth. It is your wedding in 15 days and you want a good broad smile? Then Dr. Ganatra, though not a beautician, can make you look better by reducing all the gaps between your teeth, cleaning and aligning your teeth in just 10 days. And you can smile in front of your guests without any hesitation. Often, we think that visiting a dentist is going to be painful. But, Dr. Nilay Ganatra treats every patient not as his friend but as his family. He interacts, understands and counsels every patient. He says, “I don’t begin the treatment on the ďŹ rst day itself. I get to know the patient ďŹ rst and make him/her feel comfortable and also clear the idea that the treatment is not going to be painful at all.â€? He ďŹ rmly believes that dentistry practised in the right way can never be painful. Having his own dental clinic at Bandra since 5 years, Dr. Nilay Ganatra has successfully treated more than 10 cases with this new technique of teeth aligners. ‘No braces, No pain’ assures Dentist, Dr. Nilay Ganatra with the new therapy called Myofunctional Orthodontics treatment to straighten crooked teeth both in children and adults. Dr. Ganatra can make your teeth straight, vanish the gaps between your teeth and shape your entire set of teeth by using simple teeth aligners that are transparent, removable, easy to wear and user friendly. And you will have perfect teeth in just 10-12 months! The process is quite simple as there is no surgery, no anesthesia, no ďŹ lling, no physical harm to the teeth, no physical force, no side eects and no pain at all. And the best part is that these aligners or coating on your teeth are invisible unlike the usual big ugly looking braces. So, nobody will come to know that you are undergoing treatment. These aligners are basically a covering just in the shape of your teeth and you need to wear these on your teeth for 10-12 months. These aligners are specially designed according to the shape and gaps of your teeth by a software and are invisible when you wear them on your teeth. Dr. Ganatra says, “It’s like lens on your eyes, though you can see lens sometimes but you can never identify this covering on your teeth.â€? And you can wear these for parties and events, eat while wearing them on and also remove them whenever you want. You don’t even need to visit the dentist often as Dr. Ganatra will give you sets of these aligners and you can wear them on your own and gradually you will notice that your teeth are in shape and the gaps have vanished. Dr. Ganatra explains, “It’s a kind of magic! For without any kind of surgery, pain or physical force or hard braces, your teeth will come in shape. But, it is a slow process and happens in stages.â€? For kids (6-14 years) these align-

I managed to do that‌yes, that trip was truly unbelievable... bonding with Varsha and Smita, and those two extra days in glorious Moscow. Unconsciously, I had taken on the part of elder sister, much to their delight. The three of us pledged everlasting friendship that began to blossom on an alien land. Both Smita and me lived upto our promise‌I saw a lot of Smita as years wore on. By early 1980s I was getting closer to the women's movement and closer to my inevitable divorce. By that time Smita had moved from Tardeo to a Carter Road apartment called Varsha. Her large home opposite the Jogger’s Park was being built‌ Concern for women topped Smita’s priority. Hearing about the women centre’s work of supporting women where I volunteered, she decided to visit our tiny rented Vakola oďŹƒce. Women's faces lit up seeing a real star sit with them as if it was her daily routine. Smita felt deeply committed. Enough to promise ďŹ nding a more suitable place to house the centre. Jabbar Patel’s woman centric ďŹ lm, bi lingual Umbartha/Subah was going to release in 1982/3.

Smita pledged to give us the SUBHAH premiere show to raise funds. Not only did she give us the charity premiere – she got Amitabh Bachchan to attend the show along with his wife Jaya our chief guest. What a wonderful night that was! Women celebrating all night‌. And the women’s centre moved into a bigger oďŹƒce with her unstinted help. On the personal front, Smita spread her safety net during the dark lonely journey towards my liberation struggle. Her Carter Road at was my second home. Her telephone line open 24x7 to make long distance calls to my daughter in boarding school...she became the one woman support structure for me and my youngest daughter Anwesha who grew up wearing Smita aunty’s hand me down woollens. Smita’s encouragement made me seek legal redress. There were endless acts of unconditional generosity I recall gratefully as we bonded like sisters born to two dierent mothers. On my part, I continued to be her older sibling, during her pregnancy, her dark unresolved moments‌ Today I am not here today to talk about her phenomenal gift as an actor. Or her extraordinary range of roles she accomplished awlessly. Except to say in passing that whether she played Savitri, the betrayed wife in Subah, the ďŹ ctional Hansa Wadkar (BHUMIKA) the frothy young prostitute Zeenat (MANDI) – or the feisty Kathiwari woman in MANTHAN, whatever her screen role, she invested them with esh and blood. She was all of them and yet spectacularly original. Original as an individual, as an artist. As a woman she, was uniquely splendid. She would have been 60 autumns old this October 17th‌.but life allowed her only half time. The curtain call came far too early for this friend, my sister Smita. I celebrate our friendship once again fondly‌with special pride. Rinki Roy

At the Tashkent Film Festival sometime in the seventies there were many ďŹ lm luminaries‌but the two young women - Varsha Bhonsale and Smita Patil - kept to themselves. I did not get to know them until a strange incident‌ a slightly tipsy Varsha confronted me for of being a snob!! Aghast at this unfair allegation, I did not know how to respond! Within minutes she cracked up - and hugged me. That was a moment of pure merriment. The ice melted at once‌that particular moment also heralded my permanent tryst with Smita's and we never looked back until her devastatingly tragic death shook the ground beneath my feet. When I ďŹ rst met Smita (Patil) in USSR it was under a festive sky. Death and parting was nowhere on the horizon‌.that trip was to remain memorable for numerous little anecdotes‌but mostly for the gift of friendship with Smita that blossomed. A friendship that was conďŹ rmed over walks, a simple daal chawal dinner with local Indians when Smita longed for varan bhaat, for our unexpected two day holiday in Moscow which materialised magically out of thin air. It happened when our return ight to India from Tashkent left without us! Raj Kapoor, the delegation head forgot to inform his ock about the return ight the next morning. The entire Indian delegation was stranded in Tashkent, with no ight until the another week. Rajji who never woke up mid morning came down wearing a big grin and hearing the debacle simply eased on a sofa as if nothing had happened!!! All around were the other delegates tearing their hair. In the former USSR, Raj Kapoor was virtually the Czar. He could do anything – and that is exactly what he did. A chartered ight was promptly ordered to take us back. But via Moscow. "Moscow? Red Square? Kremlin?" Smita's eyes had glistened at this unexpected windfall. At sundown before our return trip we took a walk in the pine forests. All of us longed to eat simple home food. And

and started his own dance classes last year in June. He believes, “I don’t think money is everything. You need to be happy within and make others happy. You need to socialise and live life by enjoying every moment.” Having learnt jive and other dance forms professionally, Marlon has a social dancing concept. He believes that senior citizens and youth should use dance as a medium to relieve their stress, interact with people, channelise their energy and feel happy by dancing. He admits, “Dance is a stress buster. It refreshes your mind for in that 5 minutes of dancing you totally forget all your troubles of life and just dance with a smile.” Bandra is a lively place where people are young at heart though not at age. So, for the oldies who feel they can’t do anything or how will they manage to dance at this age, Marlon has a remedy - ‘Patience, Practice and Perseverance’ is all that it takes to learn any form of dance. So, just get it out of your head that you CAN’T and give it a try and this Christmas you might be all set to Rock and Roll!

There is no age barrier for dancing; if you want to dance you can at any age! Marlon Almeida, a Bandra resident, calls everyone to let go of every mental obstacle that prevents you from dancing, and get ready to twist and turn. Catering to both the young and the old, Marlon teaches ‘Jive’ and encourages particularly the oldies to come out of their monotonous lives and enjoy the beauty of dancing! Jive is a dance form of the 80’s so the elderly connect to it easily. Marlon says, “The older people love to rock and roll and jive is the easiest form of couple dance to learn.” No matter how fat you are, how weak you are or how old you are, Marlon believes, “All you need to do is be light on your feet and enjoy yourself, just have fun while you dance.” Senior citizens often feel lonely with nothing much of physical activity to do but dance can work as a platform to socilaise by freeing both your mind and your muscles. And don’t worry if you don’t have a partner, for Marlon says, “At every class, since it is jive you meet a partner and interact with a new person.” In this way, you exchange smiles, get to know different people, make friends, dance to glory and also stay fit and active. Marlon proudly claims that his oldest student is a 74 year old lady who dances beautifully and enjoys every bit of life when she is on the floor. Have you - youngsters ever been for a wedding or a party where couples are dancing and you just sit and watch them? Because you know only bollywood and hip

hop style but no jive, cha cha cha, salsa or waltz! Well, then it is high time that you learn these unique traditional forms that are so full of energy. Bollywood and western are too common; why not try jive or salsa which is unique? For the best part of jive is that it is a couple dance and you get a chance to dance with your opposite sex. So, be it any party or wedding or Christmas Ball you are all set to socialise, approach any girl or guy and just jive! Marlon says, “Youngsters have a lot of energy and they can add their

own innovations to jive to make it more lively and beautiful.” Having started dance classes in Bandra just 6 months ago, Marlon already has over 50 students in Bandra and about 20 students at Dahisar ranging from the age of 12 to 74 years. And, he also teaches dance right at your doorstep in your house if you can’t go for the class. Working for 10 years in the IT field and pocketing a good salary, Marlon Almeida was not content with what he was doing. He was not happy! So he gave up his job

Social Responsibility Forum (SRF), of ASM School of Commerce, NMIMS University, was established for contributing to the society and to those less privileged than oneself. Since its start SRF has attempted to create awareness and a sense of accountability in the masses they meet. The SRF Week (19th to 24th Oct) is one such event which addresses the various contemporary social issues in the country. It is a five day long event held at the NMIMS campus, with each day talking about aunique issue. The social issues targeted are Men’s Rights, LGBT Support and Social Entrepreneurs and contributions like Blood Donation. MANday MANtra, in association with MEN’S RIGHTS ASSOCIATION, highlights the issues which curb men’s rights. Men’s Rights is relatively untouched topic in our country. Blood2Nation is a blood donation drive incollaborationthe NGO SRLC and Lilavati

Hospital. We are spreading awareness about Thalassemia. Rainbow Pride, an event which sees Sushant Divgikar and Laxmi Tripathi of Big Boss Fame, both well-known LGBT activists in the international circuit and the TedX Speaker Harnidh Kaur sharing their opinions. Catalyst a hands on approach to contributing to society, wherein studentsof ASMSOC would go to the St. Catherine’s orphanage to plant saplings and otherwise beautify the children’s garden. SocioPROneurs, a conclave of leading social entrepreneurs such as Prashant Issar, the founder of MIRCHI & MIME an eatery employing those with speech and hearing disability. And Upasana Makati the driving force behind WHITE PRINT, India’s firstbraille magazine. By the end of this week we hope to convey the essence of these issues to the youth and change their stereotypical thinking. We at SRF are always on the quest to support any and every cause. A recent study by one of the leading banks, confirms that Indian parents are the most willing to send their children abroad for further education infact 88% of them want them to go. Most of them even willing to pay more than 60% extra to make sure their child studies in foreign universities. The number of students going abroad today stands at anywhere above 2,00,000 to 2,50,000 per year. A different study done by the Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India estimated that

Usually the number of exams a student ends up giving for entry into an Indian college is 4 to 5. For example, for MBA one has to attend CAT, CMAT, XAT etc. Abroad generally any one entrance exam is required to be taken. Today, its also possible for the student to

the hundreds of thousands of Indian students now studying abroad cost India as much as US $17 billion a year in lost revenue. Making one wonder why students go abroad? Importantly one of the many reasons that students go abroad is, not only does the student get international exposure; the quality of education is far superior by Indian standards, as books given by the university was last revised a decade ago, and the number of students in the class is approximately 120 making it impossible for the tutor to concentrate on everyone. Illegal Structure on Ambedkar Road touch There is an illegal extension construction almost completed at Ambedkar Road, opposite IMPA House / Zig Zag Road, next to Shilpa Building and Joseph Optician, Bandra West. The residents of Ambedkar Road and Pali Hill, Bandra West are being harassed. This encroaches on a public lamp post, violating and flaunting all development rules and regulations as per the Mumbai Muncipal Corporation Act, 1888. Can the BMC allow this open violation? In view of this, the concerned BMC officer should immediately issue a stop work notice, demolish the illegal construction and initiate criminal proceeding. They should arrest the illegal contractor and owner for encroaching of public property. To view pictures of the illegal site and a complaint made by an active local resident of Ambedkar road, visit: bandrabuzz.com/illegalstructures.html It is heartening to learn that many local groups are becoming more pro-active. The complain to the BMC Complain

If there is clutter • At the entrance of your home – you may be concealing fear of relationships.

is a very emotional process that feels like therapy, and it takes emotional stamina to go through it. One of the basic tenets of Feng Shui is that nothing new flows into your life until you make room for it. Therefore, clearing clutter is the key to transforming your space. Feng Shui is about attracting harmony and abundance into your life, but clutter blocks good things from reaching you. If you want to deal with clutter once and for all, I strongly suggest to clear the clutter from one drawer, one closet, or one room today, and watch what good things flow into your life to take the place of all that mess tomorrow.

Difficulty separating yourself from all the collected memorabilia? Clutter can hold you back, and clearing it can be a liberating experience. I am happy to support you in this process of personal growth. Using Feng Shui to clear clutter in your life can actually be a very exciting process once you understand what clutter does to you. It keeps you in the past, encourages procrastination, contributes to a lack of harmony in your home and makes you feel tired, overwhelmed, confused, angry, stuck, and depressed. If you think the time to clear your clutter is not time well spent, let me change your mind with Feng Shui. Where and why you have clutter says a lot about what is going on in your life. If you look at clutter all day, clutter is what you will attract into your life. Here are some common clutter locations. What do they reveal about hidden aspects of your life?
