New CYS Services Fee Structure CYS Services Press Release. Three new Total Family Income (TFI) Categories were added, raising the income cap from $70,001 to $125,001, and the accompanying fee ranges were adjusted upward. This change reects salary growth during the past years and the increased costs to provide care. By law child care fees are based on TFI, not rank or civilian grade. As a result, many Families may see an increase in their fees, some will have no change and a few others may see a small decrease. Although the Army subsidizes every patron regardless of rank or income, Congress’s intent is that Families pay a share of the cost of care. Rather than raising fees abruptly, the Army was granted a DoD waiver to phase in the new fees, where needed, over the next two to three years. Each installation will have an implementation plan unique to their current fee status. Fee adjustments will also be made for Youth

Sports, Family Child Care, Hourly Care and Part Day Pre-school classes. You will receive information about fee changes at your location beginning mid-August 2010. It’s important you are aware of the policy changes. Commanders will be holding town halls and you will be contacted directly by your Garrison CYS Services about your specic fees. Visit www.armyonesource. com, click on the Army OneSource button in the right navigation pane and visit the Child, Youth and School Services tab to see the latest fee info and post questions. Despite the fee increase, Army Child & Youth Programs will continue to be a great value for you, your children and the Army. Child Care and Youth Programs reduce the conict between your parental responsibilities and the Army mission, help with the stress of parental separations and set the stage for your child’s future academic success. We appreciate your patronage and the sacrices that you make as an Army Family in defense of our Nation! All our customers are encouraged to use MWR Online Services to pay their bills. Helping the Army Take Care of Its Own Army Emergency Relief Earns 4 Star Rating Fifth Consecutive Award Places AER in Select Top 5 percent. Washington, DC – Army Emergency Relief (AER) recently earned its fifth consecutive 4 star rating from Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities. According to Charity Navigator, only 5 percent of the charities they rate have received at least 5 consecutive 4 star evaluations. This highly coveted rating reflects AER’s sound fiscal management and program efficiency in providing financial assistance. In 2009, 89 cents of every dollar spent by AER was for the program costs involved in taking care of Soldiers and their Families. AER is the Army’s own military aid society, founded in 1942 in response to the need for Soldiers and their Families who were experiencing financial emergencies in World War II. Since its founding, AER has provided over $1.3 Billion of financial assistance. AER provides financial assistance for such needs as emergency travel, housing, car repair, food and utilities. With assistance provided in the form of a no-interest loans and grants, AER provides the Army a valuable resource in helping take care of Soldiers and their Families. AER assistance is available to Soldiers and their Families wherever they are located and

the amount of assistance approved is only limited by a valid need. Soldiers and their Family members requiring AER assistance need only contact their Chain of Command or local AER office. Bamberg’s AER Office is located at Army Community Service, (0951) 300 7777. Under AER’s Command Referral Program Company Commanders and First Sergeants have the authority to approve AER loans to their Soldiers up to $1,000. Based on reciprocal agreements, Soldiers and Families not near an Army Installation AER office can seek assistance from the Air Force Aid Society, Navy Marine Corps Relief Society, Coast Guard Mutual Assistance or a local chapter of the American Red Cross.

Community Service (ACS)

Family Advocacy Program (FAP): Jennifer Berbach Licensed Master Social Worker (LSW) Facilitate the Family Advocacy training of the Soldiers, Family Members, and Civilian employees in the Bamberg Community so that everyone knows about the wide range of services available in this community. These services are designed to teach people alternative and healthy ways to deal with the many stressors and pressures that face our families today. Some of these services include Anger and Stress Reduction classes, Parenting classes and Communication classes. But our services are wide ranging and our knowledge of other resources is pretty extensive so we say “If you need some help come see us. If we don’t have it

we will create it. If we can’t create it we’ll refer you to someone who can help”! Like others in our office I also assist in Victim advocacy issues and Sexual Assault Prevention and Response issues as well and I am also a POC for Safe Shelter and Emergency Placement Care.
