The 2015 Gulf Coast Summer Fest is scheduled for 8 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 5, at Pensacola Bay Center. This year’s lineup includes Gladys Knight, the R&B vocal group The Whispers and contemporary recording artist Stephanie Mills. A seven-time Grammy winner, Knight has had No. 1 hits in pop, gospel, R&B and adult contemporary, and has had success in film, television and live performances. Knight, known as the “Empress of Soul,” was the lead singer for Gladys Knight & the Pips. Georgia-born, Knight began performing gospel music at age 4.
