The New York Times wrote, “Ms. Salonga’s bright, metallically edged voice is a shiny all-purpose instrument that confidently establishes its dominion over whatever musical setting surrounds it.” Tickets for Lea Salonga start at $26 and are available online at SCFTA.org, at the Box Office at 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa or by calling (714) 556-2787. For inquiries about group ticket savings for 10 or more, call the Group Services office at (714) 755-0236. The TTY number is (714) 556-2746. Known across the world for her powerful voice and perfect pitch, Lea Salonga is best known for her Tony Award-winning portrayal of Kim, the title role in Miss Saigon. In addition to the Tony, she has won the coveted Olivier, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Awards. She was the first Asian to play Eponine in the musical Les Misérables on Broadway, later returning to the show as Fantine in the 2006 revival. Salonga recently appeared in Allegiance, a production developed by legendary actor George Takei. Allegiance tells the story of a Japanese-American family forced into an internment camp during World War II. The production just finished its world-premiere run at The Old Globe in San Diego. She has also starred recently in a production of God of Carnage in Manila and Singapore. Salonga first entered the world of cabaret in 2010, debuting in a sold-out run at the Café Carlyle in New York City. Following a successful return engagement in 2011, she released her 26th career album, a live recording of her 2010 concert at the Carlyle titled Lea Salonga: The Journey So Far. During her 30-year career, Salonga has performed for five Philippine presidents (from Ferdinand Marcos to Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo), three American Presidents (George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W.

Bush), and for Diana, Princess of Wales and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She began her career as a child star in the Philippines, making her professional debut in 1978 at the age of 7 in the musical The King and I. She went on to star in productions of Annie, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Fiddler on the Roof, The Rose Tattoo, The Sound of Music, The Goodbye Girl, Paper Moon and The Fantasticks. Her big break came when she was selected to play Kim in the megahit musical Miss Saigon in 1989. Given her popularity in the role, she was asked to return in 1999 to close the musical in London and again in 2001 to close the Broadway production. Salonga also starred in the reinvented production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Flower Drum Song in 2001 at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. The show garnered multiple award nominations and wins, including the LA Stage Alliance’s Ovation Award for Lead Actress in a Musical. In 2002, she took over the role on Broadway opposite Jose Llana. The Salonga-led Broadway revival cast album ultimately became a top contender of the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. Many fans also recognize Salonga as the singing voice of Princess Jasmine from Aladdin and Fa Mulan for Mulan and Mulan II. For her portrayal of the beloved princesses, the Walt Disney Company bestowed on her the honor of Disney Legend in August of 2011, along with such other luminaries as Regis Philbin, Jim Henson (posthumously) and Anika Noni Rose.
