Feeling Floral Photography by Sarah Layne

Adalynn’s Lavender Luxury The one word that Jamie uses to best describes her daughter Adalynn's room is "simple". Or at least that was her goal when this grey and lavender nursery transformation first started. "It's been a big work in progress and one that I am happy to have done." Wanting a pattern to draw your eye to the wall with the crib, Jamie used a stencil pattern to create this effect.

"The nursery wall art is one of my favorite parts to her room. Reading it just puts a smile on my face." Finding the perfect set of curtains proved to be a challenge and in the end, Jamie went with classic white than a purple that was not to her liking. Playing it safe with sheer white allows the light to filter in softly. "I must say the purple really brings out the color factor and I feel is just what her room needed. Just picture a pregnant women in the front yard with a huge slab of bead board and a hand saw."

Step by Step to a Perfect Nursery Room By Tara Steinle Kelly Kim hopes her son Matthew's nursery can inspire others to spark their creative energy and help convert that boring white walled room into a little baby's paradise! Here is how she designed Matthew's nursery. 1) Choose a paint color. "This is by far one of the hardest things to do. The paint color will set the tone of the room. It took us a few trips to the hardware store to finally select the right color for us. My advice is to go to your local hardware store and take home a bunch of the free paint swatches. Take a few days to think about it and then narrow it down to your top three. Then go to the store again and purchase small sample pints of the paint. Try those colors on your wall in a large enough section and then choose what you like, after all if you like it, your baby will love it! Kelly’s Paint: Benjamin Moore HC-144 Palladian Blue

2) Select your furniture. Nothing is easy when it comes to putting together your baby's nursery! Furniture is no exception! "We knew that we wanted to go the modern contemporary route, and that narrowed the selection down to a few boutique brands, but when we saw the Oeuf classic collection, we knew that this was The One!"

Rocker/Glider Reclining Arm Chair: Monte Design Grano Glider (Monte Design Group) The perfect complement to your rocker/glider is the side table. "The martini table so cute and really sturdy too! Its completely made out of metal!"

Matthew Area Rug: West Elm loves nursing on this!"

3) Finish your room with accessories. The last and final step which will personalize your nursery and make it originally yours is to accessorize it. You might choose to use accessories in a certain color or if your room has a theme, choose items that compliment it. "If you're like us and have no built in room lighting, you need to look for some quality Floor lamps and accent table lamps. We love the dachshund lamp from OFFI. We actually use it as a night light too!" Lighting 1: Tripod Wood Floor Lamp (West Elm) Lighting 2: Basisk Floor Lamp (IKEA) Accent Lamp: OFFI Dachshund Lamp (Design Public)

Curtains: Bella Porte Citrine Curtain Panel Crate and Barrel Kelly came across Simple Shapes website while searching for wall decals and then found that they sold the Oeuf furniture she wanted too. "They have a great selection of wall decals and we thought the Birch Tree with Owl and Birds design would be the perfect fit! In the end with the furniture we purchased, the decal was free! We had it up in about 1 1/2 hours with the help of the nifty applicator tool they included." Wall Decal: Birch Tree with Owl and Birds (Simple Shapes)

Rocket Away from Inspiration To Space By Lauren Halperin

The 'space' theme was mom-to-be Dacia's husband's idea as he has a fascination with all things outer space! Dacia says she is influenced by all kinds of design styles, but would say her design style is modern with a touch of character. "I like building a base of neutrals in a room and then adding in fun doses of color and personality. I think our nursery is the perfect example of the direction I'm taking our whole home in." Before this room was a nursery, Dacia was working on making it a craft room for herself. The walls were a pale pink, and she had plans for it be a very bright, feminine space." That all changed when she found out she was expecting a lit-

tle boy and began plans for her son Roarke to become a space explorer! After seeing an Outer Space Rocket Baby inspiration board at LayBabyLay, Dacia knew the direction her room would lift off to. "For me, having an inspiration board made this process a breeze. I sometimes have a touch of design ADD, so if I don't stay focused on the specific vision I have for a room, it can start to just look jumbled and not at all cohesive. There are two rooms in the house that I would call "done," and I've used an inspiration board for both of them." You can see the influence in the yellow furniture, the moon prints and of course the grey walls.

When you walk in the room, the first thing you see is the crib and planet wall. "It really set the tone for the whole room!" Using embroidery hoops in different sizes, Dacia placed the solar system planets in their proper order, and put cute spins on their shapes and colors. Notice how Mars is red and Saturn has little yellow rings! The details and accessories of the nursery include some of Dacia's favorite things! The number '3' that is displayed on the floating shelves was used as a prop in the photo she used to announce her pregnancy to her family. "While our son's name doesn't necessarily have family significance, choosing a masculine name with a strong meaning was important to us. So I designed a print featuring the meaning of Roarke's name, and it ended up being my favorite piece of art in the nursery." And the Darth Vader light from a galaxy far, far away is just so fun!

Like most expectant moms, Dacia found herself stressing about the bedding, scouring area stores and the Internet to find the perfect out of this world bedding. "I ended up putting it on the back burner and working on other aspects of the nursery, and by the time I got back around to it, less seemed like more. A non-fussy white crib sheet and a no-sew gray crib skirt were music to my very pregnant ears."

with the planet wall, which definitely creates a major impact in the room, and followed it up with several more items including the changing table, adding more storage in the closet, embellishing the plain navy curtains, and designing the crib skirt. "There's nothing like a good DIY to make you feel really accomplished!"

Now that this room is complete, Dacia cannot wait for DIY played a big role in this little Roarke to touch down in nursery. Dacia launched it his room.

For her son's baptism, Sofia of Awespring Weddings wanted to set the atmosphere for a very classy reception which reflected the purity of the celebration. When selecting her color palette, Sofia considered about what the day truly meant and chose to mostly keep with whites and ivories for the wholesomeness but wanted to add another color as an accent. "I knew that I definitely was going to use whites but wanted to add another color that would fit for a baptism for a boy but also with the "pure/heavenly" feel I wanted." Since Joel's big day was being held on St. Patrick's Day, choosing a mint green was a nice reflection on the holiday.

Sofia began by designing the tables and slowly added to the details that would personalize the event and create a soft, classic look. From hand picked dahlia overlays adding to texture to white Chloe chairs, and rosaries hung from the birch within the beautiful centerpieces, she wanted guests to feel a sense of calming tranquility when they sat at their table. Draping was added to select areas of the space to give it a nice flow and provide a relaxed, soft "heavenly" atmosphere. "I was so pleased with the final design of the reception space. I thought the details complimented each other well."

The celebration was intimate with 40 guests who were directed by signage to the venue and greeted with personalized cake pops to direct them to their table. Before guests walked in to the main reception room, they were asked to write a blessing in a heart for Joel. This was later framed and placed in Joel's nursery as a keepsake.

Succulents were used within the room to reflect earth. "One of my favorite details were the florals. The floral designer did an amazing job creating a giant "J" for Joel as well as a few crosses that were hung. It turned out amazing and really was a main focal point in the space, something I wanted so we could use also as a backdrop for family photos."

Up Up and Away Shower By Sugar Coated Mama

Sarah had always wanted to create a party with an up, up and away hot air balloon theme, but the opportunity had not arisen! When she was given free reign from the client to create whatever she wanted for her friend's baby shower theme, Sarah knew exactly how to make this party take flight!

"I love whimsical styling, it is very much the look and feel I try to flow through all my parties. I especially love the whimsical dreamy feel of hot air balloons. They take you away into another world. The printables Sarah used not only matched her blue and yellow color palette, but also evoked a touch of retro cuteness to the baby shower.

While it looks intricate, the backdrop is one of the most effective and easiest ones to make. It was made of crepe paper fringe garlands. Sarah folded crepe paper in half, cut down the middle then edges cut with scissors to make fringe effect. Sarah had seen similar lanterns from the Queen of Craft Martha Stewart, but she wanted to put my own stamp on them and transformed them into hot air balloons ready to lift off. "I love these scalloped tissue paper lanterns, can't get enough of them. They put the W in whimsical and give any party a unique fluttery charm. They were what I framed the whole table with. They are simple and beautiful but time consuming. They are a basic Chinese style lantern you can get from your local party shops. Then I used tissue paper and cut out circles all in the same size (around 5inches in size). Starting from the bottom of the lantern, use small squares of tape to begin attaching tissue-paper circles around the hole, overlapping them in a fish scale style. Then working toward the top, continue sticking and overlapping disks to cover the lantern. You can go crazy on the different colour themes and cardstock you can use."
