San Nicolas winery was founded in 1945 in Almonacid de la Sierra (Zaragoza) and took the name of its patron saint San Nicolás de Tolentino. The winemaking is specialised in red wines, involving most part of the production with Garnacha, Tempranillo and Cariñena Grape, symbol of this land in Aragón. Rich cultural heritage
D.O. CARIÑENA
The Cariñena Denominación de Origen is situated 56 km south east of Zaragoza, Aragón. In the Ibérica mountain range between the Campo de Cariñena valley and the Ebro river.
Generally the climate is arid in Cariñena, with an annual rainfall of 350mm. The indigenous wind “el Cierzo”, combined with the dryness of the climate lead to poor and stony soils.
Vineyard and grape The main grape varieties are red: Garnacha and Cariñena (which originates from Cariñena) together with Tempranillo. The main white grape variety is Macabeo (20%). Garnacha variety was born in Cariñena sharing its origin with Cariñena Grape. Most of them are planted in bush vines.

Fruity
Bright straw-yellow colour with greenish tones. Great perfume with intense notes of white flowers over a background of aromatic herbs such as anis and fennel. Expressive fruit character, banana and fresh citric tones. On the palate the wine is smooth, fruity and well balanced.

Refreshing Garnacha This is a deep rosé wine with a floral and fruity bouquet of this grape variety. Refreshing on the palate bursting with wild berries flavour.

Structured Garnacha Cherry colour. The bouquet is reminiscent of red fruit, raspberry, with hints of truffles. Full bodied. The balancing acid gives the wine a good structure and a long finish. Best served with pasta dishes and poultry. Serve at 14-16ºC

Soft Tempranillo Soft, round, juicy red wine, with ripe raspberry flavours. A perfect match for barbecue, such as –roasted pork chops, spare ribs, sausages, grilled vegetables. Also great with many cheeses.
