Behind every great composition

there is a fascinating story. As artists, we bring those stories to life and connect the audience to the characters portrayed on the page. The works throughout our new season have interesting narratives, from Berlioz’s obsession with an actress to Jerome Robbins’ original idea for the protagonists in what was nearly East Side Story. More stories are to be found in a stimulating all-Russian evening and a centennial tribute to Leonard Bernstein. Two German Romantic giants are paired with a young Texas composer, while the art of writing variations will precede an inspiring tribute to female composers. No story lives and breathes without someone reading it and sharing it, and no music lives in our memory without our hearing it and experiencing it together. We look forward to your hearing great stories each night spent with your Austin Symphony Orchestra.
