Dear Campus Residents, Can you believe the end of the 2012-2013 academic year is almost here? I am sure you are excited to finish the spring semester and begin your summer plans, but there are several important things to remember to conclude the semester successfully. The most helpful thing you can do during this hectic part of the year is to make note of important deadlines. Refer to the “Important Dates” column to the left and mark these down in your calendar to stay on top of your schedule. Requests for Late Departure: If your situation requires you to stay in the residence halls for any time after 12 noon on Wednesday, May 8, you must complete a “Request for Late Departure Form” online at our website for consideration. All requests must be submitted prior to Friday, April 19. Project Move-Out: Team up with Housing & Dining Programs, Facilities Management, & the Office of Sustainability for our 3rd annual Project Move-Out Community Sale! AU faculty, staff and students will be welcomed to donate unopened food, clothing, electronics, office supplies, small furniture items, and small kitchen appliances. Everything but the food will be available for resale on May 4 in the Tavern from 9am-2pm. **There will be an Early Bird Special from 8am – 9am on the sale day for only $5. All proceeds of the sale and unsold items will benefit local DC charities.

Moving Crew (SMC)! The Summer Moving Crew position provides student staff members with the unique opportunity to take part of a new chapter at American University. SMC members will play a vital role in the closing of Tenley residence halls, and the opening of Nebraska and Cassell halls. Work will include conducting building inspections, escorting vendors, furniture moves and much more. If you are interested in learning more about the role and benefits of the Summer Moving Crew, we encourage you to read through the position description and apply here. The application will go live April 8, 2013 and will conclude on April 15, 2013!

Extended Hours in the One Card Office The One Card Office is now open for extended hours. We are open during the following times weekly for all of your ID card needs: Monday – Thursday: 9:00 am to 7:00 pm Friday: 11:30 am to 5:00 pm Saturday: 11:00 am to 3:00 pm Please direct any questions to the One Card Program Coordinator at idcards@american.edu.

Live on Campus this Summer! If you’re thinking about summer school courses, interning downtown, or simply just wanting to be in DC for the summertime, let us help you by making your summer housing arrangements! When you have decided that you definitely want campus housing, visit the summer housing website for more details on how to apply: www.american.edu/ocl/housing/summerstudenthousing.cfm. This year, summer housing for AU students is available from May 12 –August 10. If you have questions after visiting our website, please email the Summer Housing Staff at summerhousing@american.edu. All current students will need to be checked out of their rooms by 12:00 noon on Sunday, May 12 for the Spring semester. If you have registered for summer student housing, you may pick up your room keys beginning at 3:00pm on Sunday, May 12, 2013.

The UPS Store Makes Move Out Easy! The UPS Store offers convenient services to help you move out of your residence hall. AU Storage is a wonderful way to stow your belongings over the summer. Check out the details and reserve your space early to save money. The UPS Store also provides economical UPS and Postal Service shipping. They ship to every state in the nation and every country in the world. The UPS Store sells moving boxes and can also professionally pack your fragile and breakable items. Thinking about Moving Off-Campus Next Year? Each year, some students venture out into the city for off- campus housing which can be an intimidating process for many. We have developed multiple web based offcampus housing resources, which include the Off-Campus Housing Guide and the Moving and Living Off-Campus Webinars to accommodate those with busy schedules. All of these resources can be found at www.american.edu/offcampushousing.

Find Your Fall Housing During the Summer! Summer Housing Search is an intensive one and a half day program to assist students with locating apartments and roommates in the Washington D.C. area. The program is designed to provide you with resources about the D.C. apartment market, tenants' rights, and tips for living successfully off campus as an AU student. We'll work with you to set up appointments with local apartment management companies and will coordinate an opportunity to view a range of apartments. In addition to viewing apartments, you'll have the opportunity to meet other American University students who are seeking prospective roommates. Summer Housing Search will take place on Tuesday, July 9, and Wednesday, July 10. This program is before the Eagle Summit for transfer students beginning Thursday, July 11.
