Some moved on to other cities, but many stayed and settled in New York City. One of the culinary capitals of the world, New York is known for Italian food and, particularly, pizza.
In 1992, the level of cuisine found at Anthony Russo’s first NY Pizzeria in Houston, Texas, was a quality that was alien to the Texas market. Transplanted New Yorkers were thrilled to finally have a traditional pie right in their backyard. It didn’t take long until Russo’s was the rave of Houston – with stories about the Russo family, their traditions and the incredible fresh taste that differed from everyone else.
