SUNNFJORD MUSEUM

When you step into one of our small log houses, you step into the life of a 19th century Sunnfjord inhabitant. Along the paths between turfed roofs, hayracks and a small mill brook, you get a sense of the everyday life of our great-great-great-grandparents. In the herb garden you can take in the aroma of hops, caraway and wild garlic.

The open-air museum displays cultural heritage and everyday life from the inner Sunnfjord villages. With a total of 32 historical buildings, you can experience a traditional smallholding, a homestead and a mountain farm. Down by the lake there is a boathouse, where you can go for a swim and say hello to our goats.

The indoor section has rotating cultural heritage exhibitions, a gift shop and an ample selection of ice cream. In the forest surrounding the museum you will find educational hiking trails. During the summer, we offer customised family-friendly tours in Norwegian or English.
