Martin Koch Martin Koch is a policy officer in DG Research & Innovation, Unit B3 "SMEs, Financial Instruments and State Aid". He joined the European Commission in 2006, and is currently leading the team implementing the Risk-Sharing Finance Facility (RSFF/ RSI), an innovative debt financial instrument supporting investments in research and innovation. He is also involved in developing the next generation of EU financial instruments for research and innovation under the Horizon 2020 programme which started in January 2014.

Before joining the European Commission, Martin worked for over a decade with specialist financial institutions focused on financing innovative small and medium-sized companies, risk capital, and product development.

Born in 1964, Martin Koch studied Political Science and Economics and holds a Master's degree in Political Science (Public Finance) from the University of Muenster, Germany.
