2013 Women’s History Month Celebration

D

“Women Inspiring Innovation through Imagination”

uring the month of March, the Multicultural Center, along with other ASU Departments, celebrated Women’s History Month with a series of events honoring women who have made an impact in history. A month-long art exhibit entitled “Venus Gaze” featured various faces of women. The artist, Jorge Villegas and his wife Maria gave a short lecture on women in art with specific concentration on Hispanic women. Janis Kearney, diarist to 42nd US President Bill Clinton, discussed her book, “Daisy: Between a Rock and a Hard Place.” Kearney also autographed copies of her new book during a small reception after her lecture. The Women’s History Month Celebration concluded with the Women’s Leadership Conference which featured the Living Legends Luncheon. The keynote speaker for the luncheon was Mrs. Ginger Beebe, wife of Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe. Her address inspired women to continue to strive for success through innovation and volunteerism. Conference workshops offered attendees a wide variety of topics from studying abroad to dressing for success.
