TOP DINING EXPERIENCES ON SNOWMASS

TOP DINING EXPERIENCES ON ASPEN MOUNTAIN

Snowcat Dining Excursions – Few things could be more surprising than the comfy delights of a snowcat ride to a backcountry cabin for dinner. Snowmass offers such an experience at Lynn Britt Cabin where dinner guests enjoy top-notch cuisine with a dash of Western charm and history.

Wine, Dine & Unwind at element 47- The name element 47 pays tribute to silver, the precious metal that first put Aspen on the map, and to the finest silver service cuisine —for breakfast, lunch, après and dinner, 7 days a week. Our team of culinary and wine professionals is one very good reason our hotel has enjoyed the rare 5-Star, 5-Diamond ranking for so long. Whether you ski in for lunch, drop in at the bar for a more casual rendezvous, or join us for the most special of occasions, you’ll be greeted with warmth, not formality.

Massive terrain, massive amounts of snow, and — when it comes to on-mountain dining — a massive amount of options. Whether you’re looking for a quick bowl of chili to warm you up or a once-in-alifetime backcountry dining experience, quality food is always within reach on the mountain.

Comfort Food – You know that feeling. You’ve just burned 1000 calories in one morning, and all you want is … Pizza? A burger? Chili like the way Mom used to make it? No matter what comfort food you seek, Snowmass’ casual eateries — especially Sam’s Smokehouse, Up 4 Pizza and Ullrhof — will recharge your batteries for the afternoon.

Aspen Mountain has an undeniable mystique, and it goes beyond just the bumps and steeps. At its restaurants, you’re guaranteed cuisine on an elevated level, and a vibe that is equal parts Rocky Mountain laidback, and cosmopolitan jet-set.

Après-Ski at Ajax Tavern - Its sun-drenched, mountainside patio can be seen from halfway up the mountain – a simple target for lunch or cocktails. Arrive, and let the people-watching begin, there’s no better seat in town. Located right next to the Silver Queen Gondola, Ajax Tavern is the hub for casual fine dining in an unbeatable atmosphere. The Tavern comes to life at lunch, and the party rolls on well into the night. If you go no further on the menu, try the truffle fries and Ajax double cheeseburger – they earned their reputation. Summit at the Sundeck - Leave it to Aspen to take the slopeside cafeteria to new heights. And we mean that in two senses: (1) the views from the Sundeck have that breathtaking, top-of-the-world wow-factor, and (2) the food gets high marks from foodies and families alike, with fresh, creative dishes that are ready for you to grab and eat whenever you’re ready. Favorite items are healthy, made-to-order stir-fry dishes from the wok station, fresh and inventive soups, pizzas, unique salads and delicious sandwiches. It’s all served in the Sundeck’s bright and warm setting, defined by 30-foot ceilings, a huge rock fireplace and a spacious patio to make the most of its beautiful views of 14,000-foot peaks.

Sundeck

Best Known For: Made-to-order wok stir-fry followed by a quick patio catnap in the sun.

TOP DINING EXPERIENCES ON ASPEN HIGHLANDS

TOP DINING EXPERIENCES AT BUTTERMILK

Live It Up at Cloud Nine – Aspen Highlands is adored by locals because of its in-bounds skiing feels distinctly out-of-bounds. A similar thing could be said for the Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro dining experience — Alpinestyle with a distinctly Rocky Mountain feel. In the Alps, a day of skiing isn’t complete without a long, cozy midday meal. Here, skiers can indulge in the most essential of European Alpine traditions, fondue, with views nearly as iconic as the Matterhorn — the Maroon Bells.

Picnic with Pyramid Peak – At the summit of Buttermilk you’ll not only find the delectable Cliffhouse, but also impressive views of 14,025-foot Pyramid Peak. You can make a mountain of ingredients at The Cliffhouse’s make-your-own Mongolian BBQ stations, then burn off the calories all afternoon long on Buttermilk’s famous groomers.

Of the four mountains, Aspen Highlands offers perhaps the most intimate overall experience. It’s a big mountain with major bowl terrain, but at every turn it feels personable, especially at its two convivial restaurants — Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro and Merry-Go-Round.

Order. Nosh. Ski. Repeat. – That’s the cycle of fun at Merry-Go-Round and Aspen Highlands’ mid-mountain eatery where the coffee is always hot, and the vegetarian and hearty-yet-healthy options are plentiful.

Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro

Best Known For: Classic fondue, raclette and apple strudel.

Merry-Go-Round

Best Known For: The prime spot to meet for lunch at mid-mountain.

8 / ASPENSNOWMASS.COM

Whether you are taking one of the best terrain parks in North America, or just learning the basics of skiing and snowboarding with our Ski & Snowboard Schools, you can take a breather and recharge at Buttermilk’s two signature on-mountain restaurants: The Cliffhouse and Bumps at Buttermilk Mountain Lodge.

Where Everyone is Happy – At the Buttermilk Mountain Lodge at the base, you’ll find Bumps, a warm and inviting eatery where skiers and riders of all ages fill up on … well, anything they want. The cafeteria-style offerings suit all tastes.

Bumps at Buttermilk Lodge

Best Known For: Mediterannean-inspired madeto-order pastas and salads.

Cliffhouse

Best Known For: Mongolian BBQ with a priceless view of Pyramid Peak.

Q: We want to take a day off of skiing in the middle of our stay, how do I reserve this? A: Renting the equipment is like renting a car. If you do not use them for a day, you will have to pay for them unless you return them for that day.

Q: After skiing Aspen Mountain in the morning I will have lunch at the Little Nell. I would like to ski Highlands for the afternoon. Will you transfer my skis to Highlands for me by the time I am finished dining? A: No, the FREE intermountain transfer program is only done at night. You can have your equipment stored for free during lunch at any of the corrals at the base of each mountain. Q: Do I return the skis to the shop to have them transferred to another mountain? A: No, it is even easier than that. At the edge of the snow at all our mountains we have skier services set up to store or transfer your equipment.

FULL & HALF DAY PRIVATE LESSONS, ALL AGES & ABILITIES Full Day Privates are offered daily at all mountains, 9 am – 3 pm or by special arrangement. Half Day Privates are offered daily at all mountains, 9 am- 12 pm or 12:30 - 3:30 pm. Private lessons can be a one on one experience or we accommodate up to 5 guests of your choice per lesson. Guests will enjoy privileges that include custom-tailored teaching, priority lift access, mountain guiding, and overnight ski/snowboard storage. Reservations are recommended.

Avoid letting this be your child’s first experience away from you. It is helpful if the child has learned to trust other adults (babysitters or caregivers). If possible, come for a short visit the day before your lesson. Talk to your child about how much fun he/she will have in the program before your arrival. Tell the child where you will be and when you will return. Our goal is for your child to have a wonderful experience! If your child has a difficult time adjusting, you will be contacted so together we can decide what is best for your child.
