Lesson Learned … If There Seems To Be A Problem With A Slot, Don’t Do Anything!

Two of our staff members recently visited a casino in Arizona they hadn’t been to in a long time. One of them had a player’s card account at the casino which actually had to be reactivated and upon doing so, the friendly player’s club representative placed $10 in free play on the account to be downloaded onto a machine of their choice.

The casino employees went into the slot’s service menu and determined multiple items that were in the favor of our staff member including: the free play transfer, the receipt of the free play, no money had been inserted into the game after the transfer, no money had been cashed out after the transfer, and no games had been played after the transfer.

Apparently our staff member decided to download the entire $10 onto a newer WMS Gaming machine. The slot showed a transaction in progress message, as did the player tracking system display. After several of the same messages flashed back and forth, $10.00 worth of credits appeared on the slot. Our staff member then removed the card from the player tracking system, the $10.00 in credits disappeared, and the slot went into “tilt” mode!

Without the service log to verify the incident our staff member was involved in, the casino employees would not have quickly returned the $10 in free play back on to the player’s card! Lesson learned! If there seems to be a problem with a slot, don’t do anything! Don’t cash out, don’t play a game; call casino employees over for their help immediately. If necessary, remind them they can verify what happened in the game’s service menu! $
