Art Museum expansion to open May 2001 The Business Journal Date: Thursday, July 13, 2000, 3:03pm CDT The Milwaukee Art Museum's expansion, designed by Santiago Calatrava, will open to the public May 4, 2001. A series of opening celebrations will inaugurate the $75 million addition, including special membership and donor events that will begin in late April. The new museum park and gardens are planned to open in fall 2001. The expansion will add some 125,000 square feet to the museum's current 160,000 square feet, and will include a 300 seat auditorium, a lakeview restaurant, underground parking, a museum store and art exhibition space.
