Miller Park, Art Museum achieve national notice The Business Journal Date: Friday, April 1, 2005, 2:13pm CST Related: Sports Business Miller Park and the Milwaukee Art Museum's Calatrava addition received accolades this week from a variety of national print and online publications. One acclaim comes from the editors of Microsoft Corp. Internet portal MSN.com, who selected the Milwaukee Brewers' home field Miller Park as the fourth best Major League Baseball park in the country, topping rival Chicago Cubs' Wrigley Field, which ranked ninth. MSN editors praised Miller park's sight lines, seating comfort, concessions and parking. They noted that while the retractable roof design gives the stadium a "domed feeling," the roof succeeds in making early and late-season games comfortable to attend and that the "intimacy of the stands still provides a traditional baseball atmosphere." The Colorado Rockies' home stadium Coors Field earned top honors, followed by Boston's Fenway Park and the Cleveland's Jacobs Field. Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore rounded out the top five in fifth place. In its April 2005 issue, Smithsonian Magazine cited the Milwaukee Art Museum's Santiago Calatrava-designed addition as one of seven U.S. destinations where travelers can discover the "entirely unexpected." The museum and the city of Milwaukee were also featured in a page 1 article in the March 27 Washington Post -- "Milwaukee: Something's Brewing" -- by Post staff writer Cindy Loose. The article notes a "new Milwaukee of high culture and chic" while maintaining its old ties to beer and bratwurst.
