Who Doesn’t Want To Be A Mermaid? Complete Spas has their very own mermaid, and that’s official! BSAC (British Sub Aqua Club) Snorkel Instructor Hayley Keen has recently been crowned Miss Mermaid UK Worcestershire and is looking forward to the UK national finals. Hayley had always dreamed of becoming a mermaid since a young age and got the chance when she bought an outfit a couple of years ago, there was just a small problem – she wasn’t a strong swimmer and hadn’t even snorkeled before, let alone with a mono fin. So Hayley took to Facebook to ask if there was anywhere that she could practice with her new outfit. Evesham Sub Aqua Club’s Training Officer, Complete Spas Owner and current BISHTA Chairman, Pete Grinnall replied, saying they would be glad to have a wannabe mermaid join them on their club night and give her a few pointers and was soon offering Complete Spas help with the sponsorship of the pageant. Pete Grinnall remarked: “Hayley fitted into the club straight away, her ‘I’m a mermaid get over it attitude’
made us all smile.” So much so Pete asked her if she would be interested in the BSAC snorkel course, she agreed and within a few weeks Hayley was a qualified snorkeler. Progressing on from that, this February Hayley attended BSACs SITCA 2-day course, passed with flying colours and is now a recognised BSAC Snorkel Instructor. Entrants to the ‘Miss Mermaid UK’ competition not only get the chance to represent their county, but the winner of the UK finals gets to represent their country in the international finals in Egypt and Complete Spas will be supporting Hayley, hopefully all the way to the finals.
