Refrain from using old clichés and ghetto slang words during your presentation. Don’t use empty works like “ohm ohm” to just fill in the blanks. Preaching is not people bashing, but exhortation, encouragement. If you’re not the Pastor of a church, then your message should not be geared towards the foundational, doctrinal beliefs of that church. When you stick to the Gospel you can never go wrong. Refrain from preaching on clothes, jewelry, and other things that are the Pastor’s concerns and responsibility. Leadership teaches these things in Bible study or church meetings. Preparing a Sermon Intro.

The introduction is your opening statement; gather your thoughts and information; set the stage for the message you want to get across. Make statements to prepare the congregation for where you are trying to take them in your message. Include yourself and always open in prayer. Make sure to do all your greetings during this time. Give honor to which honor are due and thanks to all necessary parties.

Text

The word “text” comes from the Latin “texere” meaning to weave, to put together, to construct, or to compose. Text is an expression of thought in a continuous speech or writing. Get the scriptures pertaining to the subject at hand. Only use the vital scriptures, which will help you get your message out. Read only the portion of the scripture, which contains your subject. Reading too lengthy a scripture will cause the congregation to loose focus on the message. Use a highlighter to clearly see the scriptures you want to pull out to use later in your message.

Subject

The relation between the subject and the text should be clear and unquestioned. The sermon may or may not have a text, but it must have a subject. The subject is the substance of the message you want to portray to the people. This is the subject or topic of the message you’ll be preaching. God also has a sense of humor; don’t be afraid to use laughter. A merry heart is good medicine. Be prayerful concerning your subject: make sure the text and the subject go hand in hand. The Subject is what you’ll be preaching. (Stay focused)!

Message

I’m excited already; this is the time you bring forth what God has released in you for the people. If you’re not excited about the message then how do you expect the people to feel? All of God’s Word is good for the soul. There are times when God challenges us with His Word. 23
