“Fare il vino non è semplice. Fare il vino che hai in mente è un sogno. Quando abbiamo cominciato volevamo solo una cosa: poter bere un giorno il vino che realmente esprimesse l’autenticità del nostro territorio. Oggi beviamo un calice di Fontefico e sappiamo che i sogni a volte si avverano”. Nel 1996 Nicola ed Emanuele Altieri danno vita a Fontefico da un antico podere di 15 ettari vitati, situato sul Golfo di Vasto e risalente all’inizio del secolo scorso. I due fratelli cominciano a sperimentare le diverse vigne della tenuta con micro-vinificazioni particolarissime e fuori da ogni schema predefinito, sempre con l’obiettivo di ottenere un frutto integro e puro. Dopo dieci anni decidono di affrontare il mercato producendo solo 10.000 bottiglie. Fontefico è oggi una boutique winery che punta ad una qualità d’eccezione con una produzione incentrata su vini fortemente territoriali come il Pecorino e il Montepulciano. La cantina è immersa nel verde dei propri vigneti e le uve raccolte a mano sono immediatamente vinificate per esaltare al massimo le loro caratteristiche. L’attenzione al dettaglio fa la differenza e dunque Fontefico sceglie di vinificare solo il meglio della sua produzione viticola per poche migliaia di bottiglie per tipo. “Per gustare il vino non occorre essere grandi intenditori ma bisogna amare il vino per saperlo apprezzare. E’ il più nobile testimone della nostra Cultura, che ha sempre qualcosa da raccontare”.

“Making wine is not easy. And making the perfect wine is just a dream. When we began we had one goal: to make a great wine that truly expresses the authenticity of our land. Now whenever we drink a glass of Fontefico we know sometimes that dreams do come true”. In the 1996 Nicola and Emanuele Altieri gave life to Fontefico, an ancient 15 hectare vineyard located on the Gulf of Vasto and dating back to the last century. The two brothers began to experiment with different vineyards of the estate with exceptional micro-vinifications, breaking away from fixed patterns, always with the aim of maintaining the integrity and purity of the grape. However after ten years they decided to respond to market demand producing 10,000 bottles. Fontefico today is a boutique winery that is known for its exceptional quality while focusing on regional wines like Pecorino and Montepulciano. The winery is surrounded by the vineyards so that the handpicked grapes can be crushed immediately thus preserving the quality of the fruit. This attention to detail makes the difference when we choose to make Fontefico wines with only the best of our selected grapes, producing only a few thousands of bottles per label. “We believe that to enjoy wine you don’t need to be a connoisseur. You just have to love it for appreciating it while never forgetting that the wine is the most noble witness of our Culture, and it always has something to tell you”.
