More load capacity G T Radial is introducing a 16ply version of its GSL213FS for fleets running tractors with higher front end axles and gross vehicle weight. The SmartWay-verified long-haul steer (lowprofile size 295/75R22.5) is said to offer a higher load-carrying capacity and maximum pressure compared to the current 14-ply offering.

“The current specification of the GSL213FS has been very successful in wear performance and fuel economy,” said William Estupinan, vice president of technical service for Giti Tire USA. He added that the newer emissions-compliant engines are heavier, resulting in front axles that face increased front end load. www.gtradialtrucktires.com

Plug-and-play GPS tracking

A

zuga, a provider of GPS fleet tracking and driver behavior solutions, has now sold its low-cost GPS device to more than 100 customers in a little over three months. The “instant-install” OBD II device can begin working in as few as 22 seconds, while allowing companies to track their fleets inexpensively, the company said.

Powered by Azuga’s G2 technology, the device is said to “read” vehicle engine data up to 60 times more often than standard GPS tracking systems. It then sends that data to the cloud, giving fleet administrators real-time snapshots of vehicle health, fuel usage, carbon footprint, and driver behavior. www.azuga.com
