Many of these good ideas are created and nurtured in The O’Pake Institute. Thinking about being an entrepreneur? Any student at Alvernia can start and grow their business with the O’Pake Institute! Students can also apply to the Institute’s O’Pake Fellows Program. O’Pake Fellows work hands-on with local businesses, non-profits, educational institutions, community agencies and local leaders to assist in projects to grow or expand their brand. O’Pake Fellows have designed advertising campaigns, marketed new products, worked with community leaders to create safer neighborhoods, developed websites, commercialized intellectual property, and provided resources for local schools and churches. There is nothing like it in the region. O’Pake Fellows are gaining experiences like no other in our community AND these are paid leadership roles on campus. Intrigued? At Alvernia every new student is assigned an Academic Coach we call “Navigators”. This person is dedicated to your academic success. They meet with students and help them find resources to support them in the classroom and share resources as you move into your undergraduate experience. Additionally, The Academic Success Center provides opportunities for students to find academic support through tutors, The Writing Center, ESL support services and learning accommodations.
