Zona abierta / Open area Residente / Resident 40 a 45 cm; envergadura: 86 a 105 cm; dos formas: una clara, otra oscura. Cola siempre más corta que el ancho del ala, no tiene raya blanca. Distinta del aguililla de ala-ancha: secundarias más oscuras que primarias. Perchado, alas llegan a la punta de la cola. Cola más corta que águililla de cola roja oscura. 16” to18”; wingspan: 34” to 40”; there are two morphs, one clear colored and one dark. Tail shorter than the width of the wings, no white band. Differs from Broad-winged Hawk which does not have dark secondaries. Perched, wings reach the tip of the tail. Shorter tail than Red-tailed Hawk.
