CANNES

11-12 June

The two-day Arabian horse event, the Global Champions Arabians Tour, concluded with an impressive closing ceremony at the Stade des Hesperides in Cannes. Against the backdrop of the Mediterranean and the glamour of Cannes, this prestigious event highlighted the beauty and elegance of Arabian horses, attracting fans and spectators from all over the world.

The Global Champions Arabians Tour, known for showcasing Arab excellence, made an important stop in Cannes as part of its international trip that has already stopped in Doha, Abu Dhabi and Muscat. This year’s event brought together top breeders, trainers and handlers who presented this extraordinary breed to a new and engaged audience, as well as followers of the Tour.

The closing ceremony was a memorable event, featuring a demonstration of equestrian skills and cultural performances that paid tribute to French culture through art, music and film. Highlights included synchronized riding, fireworks, and a performance of Edith Piaf’s “La Vie En Rose”, offering a feast of entertainment and luxury.

“The Global Champions Arabians Tour in Cannes has been a great success, thanks to the quality of participants and the cultural elements that enhanced the experience,” said Faleh Al-Nasr, Chairman of the Global Champions Arabians Tour. “We are proud to have hosted such a notable celebration of Arabian horses in this beautiful city, and we look forward to continuing our tour with the same enthusiasm.”

“We would like to thank Global Partners, Qatar Airways, Doha Bank, and Old Doha Port, along with Institutional Partner Ville Cannes and Broadcast Partner Alkass, who have been crucial to the success of the Tour,” continued Al-Nasr.

During the two-day show, thousands of guests from around the world came to Cannes to watch horses from 13 countries compete for Champion titles and Ranking Points for the Male, Female and Handler Leader titles, which will be announced at the finals in Riyadh in November (6th to 9th).

The show started with two strong groups of yearling fillies. Clear winner and later Gold medal Champion Yearling Filly was the charismatic Durrat al Albidayer (Jyar Meia Lua x A Vision MI), bred and owned by Albidayer Stud from the UAE. This filly scored numerous 20’s on type, head an neck and also one on movement, giving her an overall score of 92.57 points. Second with 91.07 points was Sultana al Thamer (Dominic M x Weaam al Jassim) – bred and owned by Al Thamer Stud from Qatar.

The yearling fillies of the second group scored very close to each other. With 91.79 points, the class winner and later the Silver medal Champion was D Nafayes (D Seraj x D Danat), bred and owned by Dubai Arabian Horse Stud from the UAE. At the second place with 91.43 points and later Bronze Champion Filly was Royal Futurista (AJ Radman x HK Sweet Musique), bred by McGownDavis and owned by Al Wajba Stud from Qatar.

Next up in the competition were the four yearling colts, class A, one of which was sent out lame. Clear winner with 92.43 points and later Gold medal Champion was the ultra typey Afreen al Shaqab (D Meyzan x Swar al Shaqab) – bred and owned by Al Shaqab Stud from Qatar. The second and third in the class both scored 91 points. However, it was points on type that led Chalino CJ (Ghaly al Hawajer x Euphoria) of Swatam Arabians, Belgium, to second place.

Another exciting colt class was up next. Winner with only 0.22 points difference was the pretty Aesar al Wajba (AJ Radman x LR Altagracia), bred and owned by Al Wajba

Stud from Qatar. However, in the championships, he had to settle for bronze, giving the silver to the second placed horse, the super typey D Borkan (FA El Rasheem x D Ajayeb), bred and owned by Dubai Arabian horse stud from the UAE.

The show continued with a large group of junior fillies. Always putting on a good show, was the gorgeous, ultra typey Shahbrys HVP (Royal asad x Rebecca HVP), bred in Brazil by Vila Dos Pinheiros and owned by Ajmal Stud. Shahbrys scored multiple 20’s on type, head and neck and with a total of 92.64 points she not only won the class, but also was awarded with the Bronze medal in the final Junior Filly Championship. Second in this class with 92.07 points was D Aserah (AJ Nofan x D Shihanah), bred and owned by Dubai Arabian Horse Stud from the UAE.

The second group of junior fillies was an exciting one as both the top leaders in the class, scored the exact same total of 92.57 points! In the end, it were the straight 20’s on type that gave Aisha al Sheikh (Jyar Meia Lua x Algamra), bred and owned by Al Sheikh Stud, the push for the class win. Later in the championships, this filly took the Gold medal. Second in the class was the pretty D Najlah (D Seraj x Elle Flamenca), bred and owned by Dubai Arabian Horse stud from the UAE, who scored perfect 20’s for head and neck. Later in the championships, she took the Silver medal. The also very popular TM Bella (TM Itaipu x TM Fadheelah) took the 3rd place with 91.86 points for Al Jumail stud.

Clear winner of the junior colts class was Sahab al Sheikh (D Meyzan x Salwa albidayer), bred by Al Sheikh stud and owned by Jennifer von Dahn, scoring a total of 91.36 points. Second in this class with 90.79 points was Jazz KA (RFI Unique x Jade KA), bred and owned by Knocke Arabians from Belgium.

The next junior colt class was quite a spectacle, as the Top three scored very close in points. Winner with 92.14 points was the pretty Bandar Al Jassimiya (Picasso di Mar x Miznat al Jassimiya), bred and owned by Al Jassimiya Farm from Qatar. In the championships, he took the Gold medal.

The second and third placed junior colt scored the same points of 91.86 points. As they also had the exact same points on type, it was the points in movement that decided who came 2nd and 3rd. As D Shakhar (D Shakhat x D Shamkhah) of Dubai Stud, scored slightly more on movement, he took the second place. This left the 3rd position to the beautiful Baz Aljassimya (Exxalt x MD Mirka), bred by Al Jassimiya and owned by Akmal Stud from Saudi Arabia. However, in the championships, Baz took revenge by claiming the Silver medal, leaving the bronze to Shakhar.

The last two classes of the day were incredible. Amazing senior mares rocked the arena. The first class showing the astonishing beauty AJ Kayya (AJ Kafu x AJA Caprica) of Ajman Stud, UAE. Kayya has been unbeatable this season. With perfect scores on type of full 20’s, a fantastic score on head and neck and also a strong score on movement, Kayya took the grand total of 93.64 points. Later in the championships, she took the Gold medal unanimously!

Second in this class, with 91.86 points, was the big moving Emarella (Sahm el Arab x Emandorella), bred by Michalow Stud and owned by Al Jassimiya Farm from Qatar.

Also the second class of senior mares was true eye candy. Winning the class with a score, close to Kayya, was Basmah Albidayer (Fadi al Shaqab x Bidayer), bred and owned by Albidayer Stud from the UAE.

Scoring also full 20’s on type but also almost full 20s on movement, Basmah took the total of 93.57 points. Later in the championships, she took the silver medal. On the second place with 92.79 points and later bronze medal champion was the mesmerizing Basandra Settimocielo (Ajman Moniscione x MA Scarlet), bred by Maria Ferraroni and owned by Ajman Stud from the UAE.

The next day it was time for the boys! Winner with 92.79 points was Pilatus PCF (Exxalt x Alexandria PCF), bred by Peacemakers Choice Farms and owned by Amer Stud, Saudi Arabia. In the championships, Pilatus took the Silver medal. The second place with 91.50 points was for Rhan al Shahania (Marwan al Shaqab x Jwaaher al Shahania), bred and owned by Al Shahania Stud from Qatar. Third in this class with only 0.07 points less, was Berwaz Al Bustan (FA el Rasheem x BS Noor), bred by Al Bustan Stables and owned by Noemie Zeller from Switzerland.

The last class of stallions also hadd super quality participants. Grand winner with 93.71 points was the always perfect ES Harir (AJ Dinar x TF Magnums Magic), bred by Sheikh Abdulla bin Majid Al Qassemi and owned by Al Jassimya Farm from Qatar. Scoring perfect 20’s on type, head and neck, this stallions took the Gold medal almost unaninmously. Second in this class with 92.57 points was the beautiful AJ Kafu (Shanghai EA x AJ Kahayla), bred and owned by Ajman Stud from the UAE. He took the Bronze medal in the final championships.

With 1 million euros in prize money, the Cannes show was nothing short of spectacular. An extraordinary venue, great organization and a fantastic closing ceremony. Next stop for the Global Championships Arabians is Valkenswaard in the Netherlands. See you all there! q

CANNES

For 30 years Mme Cristianne Chazel has organized the most important and renowned Arabian horse shows in the world.

30 years of success, 23 of them alongside Mme Dominik Briot whose elegance and creativity has further enriched the organization of these splendid events.

Mme Chazel, Mme Briot and their staff over the years have never changed and what has perhaps distinguished them has been their loyalty: her staff has always been loyal to her as well as Mme Briot and she has been loyal to herself, overcoming the difficulties that have been on her path always with her head held high and with the conviction to continue doing well.

In doing so, she has achieved many goals, the most important of which is perhaps to become an icon for the world of the Arabian horse, an example to follow and an inspiration to those who have known her all her life as well as those who are entering this world for the first time without knowing what lies behind it all. Behind there is work, hard work, intelligence, perseverance and respect, great respect for the legacy received from the great breeders of the past who have preserved and passed on the beauty and purity of the sons and daughters of the wind, the Arabian horses.

The organizers of the Global Champions Arabian Tour in Cannes wanted to pay tribute to Mme Chazel for the great work she has done over the past 30 years and which continues we remember with the organization of the Paris World Championship and the Dubai show. They wanted to pay tribute to her for her work that is a daily inspiration to those who organize events related to the Arabian beauty horse around the world.

For her foresight and determination that have led her to be known and respected around the world. But most of all because the attention she and Mme Briot along with her have always paid to all details and all participants has taken the organization of these types of events to the highest level and continues to be, show after show, an invaluable example to all.

Now in its 14th year, the Trapani show sells out, both in terms of horses and audience. Over the years it has changed venues, sometimes even cities, but the tenacity and love for his land Mr. Antonio Culcasi has it in his blood and so does the faithful staff that has always contributed to the success of this show. The only show left on the island in Sicily, On May 18 and 19 under the patronage of the Municipality of Trapani represented by Mayor Dr. Giacomo Tranchida, flanked by events councillor Emanuele Barbara and the New Mount Erice Equestrian Group (Mr. Antonio Culcasi) the Ecaho affiliated International Class C was held. The competitions were held in front of the sea, directly on the sandy shore in front of the large Piazza Vittorio Emanuele. The whole area for the occasion was transformed into a tourist attraction for the city of Trapani.

A crowd of onlookers and enthusiasts packed the stands on the beach to admire the 90 horses in competition, also in the square in addition to the horse stalls was set up a small village for children. Trapani is a beautiful city as is all of Sicily, rich in history, culture, tradition, and enriching it with an event with the elegance of the Arab thoroughbred has certainly brought added value to the area.

About 90 horses entered as told for the 6 categories held between Saturday and Sunday morning, while the

TRAPANI HORSE CUP ARABIAN

championship, after a violent thunderstorm, was held under a warm sun early Sunday afternoon. Seven judges from various parts of the world were invited to judge the horses for the International: Mrs. Janice Aileen MC Crea (U.S.A), Mrs. Kathleen Ohlsson (Sweden), Mr. Eric Gear (France), Mr. Giorgio Rossi (Italy), Mr. Sufian Taha Al Husseini (Palestine), Mr. Alaa Hammad (Bahrain) and Mr. Hassan Al Mannai (Qatar), probationer judge Mrs. Dobrochna Perez Wawrzynczyk from Poland. Also from Poland Mr. Mateusz Jaworski as the Ringmaster.

The all-Italian disciplinary committee was formed by Mrs. Maria Vittoria Pancani and Mr. Roberto Ceccaroni. Technical coordinator of the event Mr. Marco Capelli. The score reading was by Mr. Antonio Latteri, while the music that accompanied the horses and cheered the large audience was by Mr. Giuseppe Buddua.

The success of a show is never so obvious, but here is the soul of those who organized, the commitment of those who participated by bringing horses by ship from the peninsula, the willingness of the institutions to do their best for their city and all the enthusiasm that this area knows how to instill in those who stay here, and I would add: it was a good show!

Now I leave you with the pictures by our photographer for the event Mr. Giovanni Messinese. q

Hilal Al Waab was born in 2015 at the legendary Al Waab Stud in Qatar. He is one of the stunning stars from the collection of straight Egyptian horses bred there by Sheikh Abdulla Bin Khalid Al Thani.

His career as a show stallion has been equally successful. Two World Champion titles, several Gold Champion titles in Europe and the Middle East and he is also the sire of Gold Champion foals.

This has resulted in Hilal Al Waab entering the Hall of Fame of Straight Egyptians as a top sire. His outstanding pedigree is a testament to his success.

Thanks to his owner, Mr Abed S Burqan, we are pleased to announce that Hilal Al Waab is available to breeders in Europe with fresh quality semen.

Please ask for the favorable summer stud fee for late bookers.

Regio Le When

Regio was special since the moment he was born – charismatic, muscular, tall and strong foal with dishy face and very short nose part. He had a really regal pose at stand up from his first days of life, thats where his name comes from as „regio” in Italian means royal or regal.

The colt was a result of carefully planned combination of the champion producing RFI Farid and Laheeba Le Soleil – Le Soleil Stud homebred mare being a cross of WH Justice line on top with best Russian bloodlines through Prichal (son of Aswan and from Taktika female line) as well as through Mascat on bottom of pedigree. She also carries a valuble Straight Egyptian lines through her maternal grandsire – Laheeb Al Nasser (by Al Adeed Al Shaqab) and rare blood of beautiful Phaaros through her grandmother - Alfabia Gaucita. There is not a big surprise that such a blend of bloodlines brought the great colt to the ground.

© Elvis Giughera

His story shows that the show results has proven his quality, although Elvis Giughera – his breeder and owner had to wait some time for it. The colt has been sent to the training centre of Tito Jose Villa when he was less than 2 years old to try him at some shows at the Iberic Penninsula.

Unfortunately, whenever we planned to send him to a show there was something against happening – says Elvis – so, at the end the first possibility to show Regio to the public was the biggest and most important show in Spain, but his trainer was confident that the stallion is in good disposition to handle this competition.

Finally, at the age of 3 Regio Le Soleil had been shown at 2022 Spanish Nationals where he won Unanimous Champion Junior Stallion title fulfilling his owners dream.

- We sold several breedings after this show, some even before but again, for some reason, only one from those breedings sold had been used at the same breeding season and the first filly was born this spring in Spain. She is a copy of her sire when it comes to huge, black eyes and traingular, short head. The rest of the breeders as well as me myself we are covering the mares to Regio this year. I breed almost all my mares to him – points Elvis.

©
Elvis Giughera

Currently he is standing at stud at Luxury Training Center in Madrid, being offered to the breeders worldwide. He is also available for possible leasing. - We had already an offer to sell him to Qatar but my goal is not only to sell but also retain breedings for my own use and this was a deal breaker in this case – Elvis says - In the meantime the mother of Regio Le Soleil has beed sold to Mudhar Stud in Qatar in foal to Sultan GK where she produced a very nice colt and happens to be a valuable broodmare for this farm. We really hope he can be an interesting outcross for many breeding programs worldwide as well as give a lot of joy at the shows, as his career has just started – and with what a result! His expressive technique is characterized by its abstract depiction of space, which deftly highlights the strengths of nature and presents an optimistic path forward. His artwork allows ample room for poetic interpretation, inviting viewers to use their imagination to explore the various themes and motifs. ©EMZ Art Studio I Washington DC I Paris I EMZARTSTUDIO@GMAIL.COM

25/26 May 2024 CARMAGNOLA Parco Cascina Vigna ECAHO C National Show

The first edition of the Ecaho affiliated National C Show in Carmagnola in the province of Turin was a great success. I can say with pleasure that this show was organized by the Organizing Committee coordinated by Mr. Daniele Giaccone and formed by a team of people related to the institutions of the city of Carmagnola; first and foremost by the Municipality of Carmagnola with the Councillor for Agriculture Mr. Roberto Gerbino and the collaboration of the Civil Defense, the Red Cross, the Volunteers of the Green. Everyone actively participated in the best success of the event. All tireless and always present. This town with almost 30 thousand

inhabitants proved that even a small show of C-class Arabian horses can become a great celebration both for those who participate in and for the whole country. Which then the show was not so small: 42 horses in the boxes, plus the two American-style (Western) riders who offered the large audience present a demonstration of how versatile the Arabian thoroughbred horse can be.

The surrounding area is rich in green spaces such as the Gerbasso Woods, Cascina Vigna Park (where, among other things, the local Civic Museum of Natural History is located) and the Lanca di San Michele Special Nature

Reserve near the Po River. It is also world-famous for its bell pepper cultivation; just think that for 75 years there has even been a regional competition for the best bell pepper grower. And in September, the famous Pepper Festival, an event that is now nationally renowned.

The event was held precisely within the Vigna Park, a large green lung equipped with children’s playgrounds but also a fabulous bar and restaurant. The Organizing Committee invited three judges, one of them from Abu Dhabi capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mr. Zayed Saad Alqahtani, then Mrs. Sylvie Eberhard from Germany and Dr. Vet. Laura Mascagna from Italy. Also all-Italian were the members of the Disciplinary Committee: Mrs. Barbara Raso, Mr. Alessandro Marino and Dr. Vet. Emanuela Valle. Ring Master Dr. Vet. Gianpaolo Teobaldelli vice president of ANICA.

Exceptional speaker Mr. Daniele Giaccone who very

professionally explained (something that rarely happens) to the audience present the modalities of the 5 scores and the system by which they are assigned. Needless to say, one rarely sees such an attentive and assiduous audience. The show took place over the days of May 25-26, with perfect timing, starting at 10 a.m. the various categories followed each other. On Saturday afternoon, at the end of the preliminary categories Dr. Sonja Cimini gave a lecture for the company MSD (Animal Health Segrate - Mi) on the importance of vaccination for the health of horses of humans and the environment. On Sunday afternoon the final championship was held where gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded. The champions were awarded with great emphasis by the members of the City Council, Mayor Mrs. Ivana Gaveglio opening with the Yearling Filly Championship. Following the example of the Mayor were Mr Roberto Gerbino, Mr Giuseppe Giglio and Mrs Anna Appendino.

Thanks go to all the staff present at the event, but especially to Daniele Giaccone who introduced the first Arabian horse show to the city of Carmagnola. I myself am grateful and honored to have had the opportunity to be a participant with our magazine Tutto Arabi in this beautiful event. We also thank DJ Tommaso Chiotti

who entertained us with good music, the catering provided by the restaurant “Trattoria della Vigna,” and as always the streaming broadcast by Arabian Essence. Now I leave you with the pictures magically taken by our photographer Sunny Sassudelli. q

THE CITY OF KINGS’ SHOW

Fontainebleau 1-2 June 2024

June 1st and 2nd, 2024, Fontainebleau, the city of Kings, welcomed our event once again in the beautiful Stade Equestre du Grand Parquet - a place made and run by horse people for horses.

This year, in addition to an ECAHO International B Show, we were honored to be part of the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup. This new Cup is an initiative of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society, directed by H.E. Mohammed Al Harbi and under the patronage of HRH

Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Cup was created to support horse owners in each region of the world.

It was a great honor to welcome the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup to Fontainebleau and to France, providing support for European owners.

We are very grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this great initiative, which brought together horse enthusiasts from around Europe. The collaboration and spirit of unity displayed by everyone involved made this year’s event truly special. The success of the Emirates Arabian Horse Global Cup in Fontainebleau is a testament to the slogan: “From UAE to the world, the passion of Arabian horses brings us together”.

Even though the weather was not with us, smiles abounded in both the VIP and public areas, with everyone witnessing some truly quality horses! The enthusiasm and excitement of the spectators created an unforgettable atmosphere, celebrating the beauty and grace of Arabian horses.

We thank all the owners, sponsors, handlers, public (and hat competitors) for trusting us and for giving us the chance to create this event! Although this is only the second edition, we are committed to continuous improvement. However, we hope the spirit of the show “to bring everyone together” will never change!

As we look ahead to future editions, we are excited about the possibilities and innovations we can introduce

to make the event more spectacular. Our goal remains to provide an event where Arabian horses can shine, and where enthusiasts from around the world can come together to celebrate their shared passion.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in making this event a success. Your support and participation are what make this event possible and memorable. We are already looking forward to next year, and we hope to see you all again in Fontainebleau for another remarkable celebration of Arabian horses.

Stay tuned for updates and announcements once we begin preparations for the third edition. Until then, thank you once again for your support and enthusiasm. Let’s continue to celebrate the elegance and magnificence of Arabian horses together! q

Vesuvio TROPHY

INTERNATIONAL SHOW STRAIGHT EGYPTIAN

We have reached the Fifth edition of the most important show in southern Italy, which takes place over two days. Precisely on June 1st and 2nd in Ottaviano, a beautiful and typical town of about 25,000 inhabitants located in the Vesuvian area along the eastern slopes of the volcanic Somma-Vesuvius mountain range 20 km from Naples. The view is striking, the air you breathe smells of the sea, and the warmth of the people warms you more than the southern sun. For this reason, too, I have been pleased to witness the growth over the years of this show, which today boasts a full house at the VIP tables and more than 100 horses ready to show their beauty.  International C is its Ecaho designation, but in reality the quality of the horses and handlers present give the impression of being at a superior show. The Host is Donato Prisco who, giving voice to his boundless love for Arabian horses, has created in his home first a show ring, then a VIP area equipped with a kitchen and oven for pizzas that are baked by the hundreds daily as well as a clubhouse dedicated to foreign guests and judges. All this in the Prisco house. Supported by the Prisco family and friend Roberto Ceccaroni this show has come a long way in a very short time and this year was enriched by the “Prisco Straight Egyptian Event” dedicated only to pure Egyptian horses.

Donato’s private stables are full of these pearls, such as the stallion Martial PPJ, Saabrizh PPJ and many others, including Unica PPj and the most famous DA LITTLE PRINCESS who won the mare category at the World Championship in Paris and who this year participated with the stars of the world rings in shows of the Global Tour like Katara in Qatar and later at the Title in Dubai. The Prisco Family over these two days was totally dedicated to doing

the honors and overseeing the show’s success. The judges entered the field on the morning of Saturday starting right away with the yearlings were: Mrs. Kathleen Ohlson (Sweden), Mr. Ali Shaarawi (Egypt) Mr. Marek Trela (Poland), Mr. Klaus Beste(Germany), Mr. Fausto Scanzi (Italy), Mr. Al Meihem Dhari Abdulmohsen(Kuwait), and with him, also from Kuwait as assistant Mr. Mohammed Al Sahhaf. This short-form jury also judged the Stright Egyptian while Mrs. Lizette Svenson was Ring Master for both shows. The other event officials were as Disciplinary Committee Dr. Vett. Laura Mascagna, Mrs. Maria Vittoria Pancani and Mr. Gabriele Gallo. Mrs. Halizee Huet handled the music for the show and the auction held on Saturday evening.

At 9 p.m. sharp Mrs. Diana Bovoloni and Mr. Erik Blaak opened an Italian and English vocal duet to auction off the 20 lots provided by Vesuvio Trophy for the kind guests. This good idea of the auction, besides being the best way to spend an evening in a convivial way between breeders and owners, is also an opportunity to purchase the semen of big-name stallions or embryos of important mares made available by the Prisco Family. As is customary at this unique show, hospitality and dinner tables were totally provided, the menu varied from sushi to traditional pizza to typical fried pizza, the famous Campane mozzarella, and Babas. Everything is fine, everything is perfect, perhaps, for a few minutes a light rain tried to disturb the futurity classes on Sunday morning but no one paid attention. You can see the winners of the categories and the gold, silver and bronze medals in the photos of the awards by our official photographer Giovanni Messinese (giovanni_messinese_photography). q
