While NAFTA was primarily about a less restricted flow of money and goods across borders, allowing for easier return travel at sites such as the Mariposa Port of Entry recognizes the desire immigrants have in keeping connected to their homes. As a new administration grapples with incontrovertible issues of trade, migration and crime, new ways of thinking about our permeable border must be found.
