he had plenty of time as she fell to think about everything she’d do once she arrived in Contentland. She’d make podcasts and write studies and eventually get to put ‘Thought leader’ on her Twitter bio. Whatever that meant… Eventually she came to a thump, thump, thump and down she came upon an office chair. She saw her laptop and thought to herself “You’re in contentland now Alice, you should probably get to work.”

f course, being a content marketer, before beginning anything she mused “I should probably have a cup of tea first.” Alice looked around for a caffeinated cup to consume and eventually happened upon a mug marked ‘DRINK ME’. Alice ventured to taste it, and found it very nice, (it had a blended flavour of craft beer, vegan brownie, smashed avocado, sweet potato toast and a sprinkling of bacon), very quickly finishing it off. “What a curious feeling!” said Alice; “I must be shutting up like a telescope.”

nd so it was. She was now only ten inches high. But still she had to get to work. She looked at the computer keys and how they towered over her and she wondered how she would ever manage it. She leapt from key to key but got tired very quickly, and every article she sent out was as short as she was. Some people liked her short posts. But some people didn’t. And Alice didn’t like that. “I must write longer posts!” she declared.

lice got frustrated and looked around. Soon her eye fell upon something lying on the table, a pile of small cakes on which the words ‘EAT ME’ were marked. And so she did.

She ate a little bit and felt her size changing, so she put her hand on top of her head to feel which way it was growing. And very soon finished off the cake. “Curiouser and curiouser!” cried Alice. “Now I’m opening out like the largest telescope there ever was!” Stretched tall, she wondered how she’d ever get any work done. Every time she tried to send out a tweet on her phone she hit too many keys at once. Apparently people didn’t like her tweets that said “qwertyasdhzxc #growthhacker”.

he found it was easier and easier to write long posts though. She could post 3,000 -word articles easily. Some people liked her long posts. But some people didn’t. And Alice didn’t like that. “I must write shorter posts!” she proclaimed.

ll this worrying about post length worked up Alice’s thirst, so she had some more tea. But this time she stopped herself before she was the size of spacebar again. Having had plenty of tea that said “DRINK ME” and cake that said “EAT ME” – Alice had the opportunity to put her feet up and think about her content. Some people liked when she was small and wrote short posts. Some people liked when she was tall and wrote long posts. Eventually she came to realise her content was NOT ABOUT HER. It was about them!

he found that when she did this, her content appealed to those it was created for.

And finally, something made sense for a change!
