Agroforestry and Forestry Sulawesi (AgFor) Project Monthly Report

ACTIVITIES: Attended refreshment training on gender in Aston Hotel, Makassar (2-4 July) Facilitated Duman Wao, post-graduate student of Birmingham University to collect data on cacao production, post-harvest treatment, trade and certification (5 – 11 July). Attended training on Cacao Agroforestry at Cacao Research Station in Konda, Konawe Selatan District (15-17 July) Distributed materials and equipment for nursery development to 6 farmer groups and stimulate their working spirits on the committed work-plan (14 – 20 July). Facilitated field visit of OWT Director on AgFor Kolaka (18-19 July) Facilitated land clearing and establishment of field learning house (18 – 25 July). Deliver training on organic fertilizer and rubber planting and establish rubber clonal seed orchard at Tasahea Village (25 July). AgFor SE Sulawesi coordination meeting held on ICRAF Office, Kendari (27 July) Attended AgFor Annual Coordination Meeting held at ICRAF Office, Bogor (30 and 31 July) ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Six OWT staff 5 male (GS, GK,GAD, PS, JS, UA) and 1 female (R) trained on gender Three male (GS, GK, JS) OWT staff trained on cacao agroforestry. All farmer groups (6) have defined fixed land sites allocated for nursery development. 2 farmer groups (Lamunde and Tasahea) completed land clearing ‘Bangun Bersama’ Farmer Group (Tasahea Village) completed: (a) Fencing the nursery land; (b) building field learning house and (c) planting clonal seeds orchards. 13 male and 7 female of ‘Bangun Bersama’ farmer group trained on organic fertilizer and rubber planting. One clonal seed orchard established at ‘Bangun Bersama’ farmer group nursery area (Tasahea Village). AgFor monthly coordination meeting (Kendari) and annual meeting (Bogor) conducted.
