Spring/Summer 2011 Inspiration: The flowers of spring are always inspiring to me, particularly after living in the mountains and we’ve been covered with snow for such a long period of time. To see the beautiful, amazing and colorful mountain wildflowers poking up screams spring. They were particularly beautiful and abundant this year. A riot of bright color and the architectural nature of flowers – from intricate internal structures to flowy petals waving in the breeze. Prominent Colors: Electric Pink Flambe expresses a sense of joie de vivre, juxtaposed against Blazing Yellow, Violetto and Bright Chartreuse, to represent the range of colors in the floral world, all balanced with a clean Bright White, born again with the new season. Fabrics: Fabrics that move in the breeze and are comfortable! Bamboo knits have a wonderful hand and bamboo is cooler in the summer than cotton. Cotton voile is also a must have – not only does it create a beautifully crisp ruffle but the sheerness of it is refreshing after a winter covered up. Must Have Item: The ruffle dress! Dresses are a must for hot weather and this season they need ruffles! Whether the ruffling is subtle in a lacy hem or more overt – ruffles are a wonderful expression of the joyfulness and freeness of spring.

Pantone Trends

Fall/Winter 2011 Inspiration: Cozy log cabins with the snow swirling outside, a high mountain meadow covered in snow white aspens, with leaves the electric colors of yellow and red. Hot chocolate and holiday pies made from the berries put up during the waning days of the summer in front of the fireplace. Prominent Colors: Mallard and Porcelain blues balanced with Granny Smith Apple Green. Also Blackberry and Boysenberry softened with a Chateau Rose. And don’t forget Hot Chocolate with Marshmellow! Fabrics: Snuggly warm fabrics including cotton and bamboo knits, recycled poly cotton, fabulous faux fur in both solids and snow leopard prints, alpaca wool and velvet.

Must Have Item: Faux fur purses were a must have item of last winter. They will continue in importance, but now the faux fur expands into other areas to create new must haves – fabulous capes and skirts are the new must have of the season.

Fashion Snoops Trends An enchanted forest theme, tinged in medieval lore with lush materials and deep saturated color.

About LamanBlu™ •

Holli Gibson, the designer for LamanBlu, established her career as a women’s wear designer in the 90’s, designing sportswear and dresses for many high profile private clients as well as major high end retailers, including Nordstrom’s, Neiman Marcus and Victoria’s Secret. After taking a time to start a family of her own, Gibson re-entered the fashion world, this time with her focus on children. LamanBlu’s collection debuted to rave reviews in 2009. Gibson is also the recent recipient of the Rising Star Award for Design from Fashion Group International. LamanBlu is an eco-friendly designer collection for little girls, sizes 6 months to 6x. The LamanBlu collection is styled to celebrate every day, because to a child, every day is a special occasion. Our core fabric is eco-friendly, naturally antibacterial bamboo knit, with a touch of lycra so that it moves and stretches with a child’s play. We also offer a price conscious option in a high quality cotton/lycra knit. Every piece in the collection is wash and wear tested by real moms and real kids, so that you know the pieces you’re buying for your child’s wardrobe will withstand the rigors of a child’s day and the ease a mom needs of washer friendly, dryer friendly and no iron clothing for their children. LamanBlu offers mix and match separates and dresses so that children can express their own individual style.
