Spring Shopping Guide 2016

From the Editor Welcome to spring, and after viewing the runways for now six years, I truly was smitten with the spring 2016 collections. Of course the stripes from Ralph Lauren stopped me in my tracks as you will see I shopped a few of his items in this newsletter (did you know the ubiquitous stripe maxi dress that is seen everywhere is actually a jumpsuit? I kid you not. And I have it for you in TSLL Shopping Guide.) But in Milan with Alberta Ferretti’s stunning gowns to London with Jonathan Saunder’s stripes, checks and red hues and ending in Paris with Martin Grant’s splendid mix of navy, stripes and classic attire to make any woman feel truly comfortable and beautiful. The inspiration for updating one’s spring wardrobe was everywhere with no excuse to not at least include one item as to add a breath of fresh air. After all, it is spring and an opportunity to start fresh. Although in order to start fresh, one must know where to go, how to change, what to toss, what to keep and what to add. Upon listening to one of my now favorite weekly podcasts, Pardon my French by Garance Doré, the conversation took place in Paris for the fourth episode and included designer Isabel Marant and model and ultimate Parisienne Caroline de Maigret. As they talked about style they made some worth listening to points: (1) Effortless style takes time. Meaning, it takes years of honing our style, getting to know ourselves and understanding our bodies to eventually reach a point where our style is truly effortless; (2) style is knowledge. When we exhibit true style we exude to the world the knowledge we know about ourselves, about our bodies and about the image we want to project. So today, as you perusing the shopping options, you will find many beautiful items, all of which are investment pieces by and large. I don’t expect you to buy many of the items, but I do hope you choose to invest in yourself. Buy one item that speaks to you and your style and as it is a quality item, rest-assured that it will be in your closet, ready to be worn and ensure that you will radiate your most beautiful self each time you wear it. With that said, there is no reason not to save money. As I was pulling together this season’s Shopping Guide, a few of the items ended up in my closet, but

not without shopping through Ebates and using Honey to ensure I found all of the potential promo codes to reduce the price. Because while yes, it is foolhardy to simply buy something because it’s on sale; the opposite is also true: once you know what you want, if you can get it for a better price, why not? The best way to shop and use this season’s newsletter is to know that each item is clickable, even the runway items. Some of the runway items will lead you directly to the item to be shopped (Ralph Lauren and DVF, for example, as well as Tibi and Paul & Joe, but there are more). But all of the shopping items will lead you directly to the online shop to learn more about the item. Also, if you want to see all of my picks from each of the four fashion weeks: NYC, London, Milan and Paris, at the end of the newsletter, click on the corresponding images to view each of my hand-picked pins. But now, it is time to see what the spring season has in store. I do hope you enjoy, and may your printemps be a gift of rejuvenation and elevation to something even more extraordinary.
