Dear one, A certain kind of 1990s Los Angeles music scene shaped my formative years: Bjork in a giant paper skirt and Meshell on bass at the Glam Slam in Downtown to listening in awe of Dwight Trible at The World Stage in Leimert Park to De La Soul at The Viper Room in Hollywood. And nothing has changed. I am still an avid fan of soulful, eclectic music in intimate venues that get you up close and personal. I vividly recall my first concert at the Ford Theatres in 2000. As I listened to powerful live music from Quetzal and Lila Downs, gazing at the trees in the canyon, something within me opened up. There is a point where one moves from observer to active participant. And that is where I find myself today. I listen to stories on NPR about lack of diversity in the entertainment industry. My heart aches when I contemplate the reality of the world’s complex problems. And so, I work. To b u i l d c o m m u n i t y , t o c r e a t e

SYNOPSIS

This June 2018, Go As If Productions will return for the 3rd year as a Summer Partner with the historic Ford Theatres in Hollywood. The Summer Partnership Program is a competitive process that helps under-resourced and under-represented producers get on level playing field in Hollywood. Participating in the Summer Partnership Program has allowed me to hone my production skills, scale up my productions and grow my audience past its base. The younger sibling of the Hollywood Bowl, this outdoor amphitheater, nestled into the canyon, has recently undergone a $72M renovation with new stage, new lights and new sound. The arts foster a sense of community by bringing people together to learn and share while engaging the senses and inspiring audiences to think critically. This production will continue my work's themes of inclusivity and representation. We'll donate free tickets and bus transportation for local non-profit organizations in an effort to increase access to arts and culture for people of all ages.

ABOUT ANNA WISE

Anna Wise is a self-taught singer, song-writer, producer and director. Dabbling in multiple genres at once, one thing is consistent, Anna’s clear and present voice. She self-released “The Feminine: Act I” and the follow up “The Feminine: Act II” to international critical acclaim. Her music has been synced on screen for film and TV. Many describe her sound as dream-pop, R&B, experimental, Jazz, and a little bit punk. When she performs live, Anna Wise provides a visceral experience. She doesn’t just sing live. She makes her own beats, loops her vocals, modulates her mixes and builds improvisational soundscapes on her Ableton setup. Anna is an innately, uniquely talented artist meant to be experienced live time and time again, as her set changes each and every performance. Through collaboration Anna has exchanged energy with some of the world’s brightest flames. These collaborations include Chris Dave, Bilal, Terrace Martin, Thundercat and Kendrick Lamar. In 2016 she won a Grammy with Kendrick Lamar for “These Walls”.
