Why the Wheeling Park District? Every day the Wheeling Park District provides memorable experiences in parks and recreation that enrich the lives of our community. On average, more than 375,000 visitors take part in programs, events and activities at Wheeling Park District at extraordinary facilities like Heritage Park, the Family Aquatic Center and Chevy Chase Country Club. The Park District also manages 20 sites on 342 acres, providing programs, activities and events throughout the year, reaching every corner of our community. Research also shows that 98% of guests share their experiences directly with friends and neighbors, and indirectly with their social media contacts and followers. Fallapalooza Date: Sunday, September 9 Time: 1:00 – 5:00 pm Location: Heritage Park Performance Pavilion Target Age: All Ages Enjoy an autumn afternoon with family and friends. Live music by Jennifer Fletcher & The Reckoning, plus fun activities like a petting zoo, pony rides, inflatables and airbrush tattoos. Food and refreshments are also available for purchase. Mario’s Cart and Chicago Lunchbox food trucks are scheduled to attend.

Family Pizza & Bingo Night Date: Fridays, September 10 & November 5 Time: 6:30 – 8:30 pm Location: CRC Target Age: 3+ Spend an evening with family and friends playing bingo and dining on pizza. Prizes for bingo add to the fun. Everyone attending must pre-register by the day prior to the event.

Hot Chocolate Walk Date: Saturday, November 13 Time: 9:30 - 10:30 am Location: Heritage Park Target Age: All Ages Bring the family out for a beautiful fall walk through Heritage Park and stay for a cup of hot chocolate. Take a picture with your favorite Frozen princess and take home a fun winter craft!

Boonanza Date: Friday, October 22 Time: 4:00 - 7:00 pm Location: CRC Target Age: 10 & Under Children, ages 10 and younger, are welcome to spend a bewitching afternoon at the CRC (Creepy Reeky Castle) filled with spook-tacular fun! Decorate your own pumpkin and create a craft. Enjoy spooky storytelling, carnival games, a balloonist and inflatables. It’s all free and kid-friendly! Limited number of pumpkins are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dia de los Muertos 5K Date: Sunday, October 24 Time: 8:00 am Location: Heritage Park Target Age: All Ages Join us for a 5K run/walk celebrating the Day of the Dead. Run though picturesque Heritage Park and on the streets of Wheeling. Enjoy music and entertainment along the course. Bring the family for the post-race celebration with live music and food! All registered runners will receive a commemorative t-shirt.

Event guidelines will be regularly updated as public health conditions change and new information becomes available from IDPH and DCEO Reservations are not currently required, however, they may be required at a later time.

• Soft drinks, water, and beer are available for purchase. The grill will NOT be operating for the 2021 season. • Vistors are welcome to bring their own food and drink; outside alcohol is prohibited. • Bring a blanket or lawn chair for seating.

Unplug at the Park

Number of Participants: 200 - 500 Target Market: Families Dates Available: Wednesday, June 10-August 5 Cost: $850 This summer, help the Wheeling Park District community unplug at their neighborhood park! June 10, June 17, June 24, July 8, July 15, July 29, and August 5, from 6 - 8 pm, the Wheeling Park District will host an Unplug event at a different park each week.

Support Special Programs! The Wheeling Park District supports a series of programs that are aimed at reducing participation gaps among specific segments of our community while raising awareness about the benefits of parks and recreation. Most of these programs are free, or have reduced fees, in order to increase participation rates.
