What do Park Rangers do?

The Frederick County Park Ranger Program is an integral part of the Frederick County Division of Parks and Recreation.

Each day, Park Rangers patrol all Frederick County parks, reaching out to park patrons in order to educate them on park resources, or to provide assistance in emergencies.

Park Rangers also enforce Civil and Natural Resources regulations, to ensure that all visitors to Frederick County parks follow all parkland rules and have a safe and enjoyable visit to the park.

B.A.R.K. Rangers

Being a Bark Ranger is serious business! In order to become a Bark Ranger, you will need to make a pledge to follow Frederick County Park’s guidelines for pets, being good advocates for our pet policies, and making sure to clean up pet waste. These policies are important because they help preserve the delicate ecosystems of the parks and to protect the land for future generations.

After taking the Bark Ranger pledge, you will be awarded a special gift to wear proudly, while exploring our great parks.

B.A.R.K. stands for:

B - Bag your poop

A - Always use a leash

R - Respect the Parks

K - Know where you can go

Find our how to become a BARK Ranger at www.recreater.com/BarkRangers.

Junior Park Rangers

Our Junior Ranger Program is for very special people like you. We need you to help us take care of parks and encourage other people to take care of them, too. The parks belong to all of us. We want you to be able to bring your families here someday and make lasting memories.

To become an official Junior Park Ranger, you need to download the Junior Park Ranger Activity Book from the website, complete it and turn it in!
