GCSE RESULTS 2023
New Hall students celebrated outstanding GCSE results in 2023 with a quarter of all grades at 8+ (A*) and 45% of all grades at 7+.
Miss Webb, Head of Theology, said: “It has been another brilliant year for New Hall. In my subject alone, three students received full marks in Theology papers and 50 students achieved grade 8 or above.”
Individual successes:
Romilly is a boarder at New Hall and plays piano and drums, as well as grade 8 violin and oboe. She plays in the Orchestra, enjoys contemporary dance, studies Japanese and represents New Hall at netball. Romilly achieved ten grade 9s and will be studying Latin, History and French A Levels at New Hall from September. “The boarding environment at New Hall has given me so many great experiences, and an incredible level of support to help me achieve this set of grades.”
Henry loves all the opportunities at New Hall to extend and enrich his musicianship, develop his fascination with astronomy, and make the most of his exceptional talents in Mathematics. He achieved eight grade 9s and three grade 8s, and is looking forward to studying Economics, Physics and Further Maths at A Level. Henry commented: “The teachers have been so supportive, and without them, these grades wouldn’t be here today.”
“I
am so proud to be sharing this moment with our Year 11 students. These fantastic results are testament to their hard work and dedication. Our distinctive ‘Diamond Model’, with single-sex lessons for students aged 11-16, enables all our girls and boys to maximise their academic potential.”

“Many of New Hall’s outstanding achievers are also boarding students. Girls and boys who board at New Hall benefit so much from the excellent combination of co-curricular opportunities and outstanding academic support here, not just during the school day, but also every evening and at weekends. Access to specialist staff can make such a difference for students at this stage in their academic career and it is wonderful to see our boarders achieve so well. Congratulations to all our Year 11 students and their teachers.”

“This cohort has had to face unprecedented challenges over the last few years. After their first experience of a public examination season, to see them come out with beaming smiles to receive their results and take the first step into their futures is a wonderful feeling. Our staff are in School today in great number to celebrate with them. With so many securing places at their preferred universities, including at competitive Russell Group universities in subjects such as Law, Engineering and Medicine, this really is a joyous day to see all that hard work having paid off. I am incredibly proud of each and every one of them.”

MOST ABLE & TALENTED
New Hall School has a thriving programme of activities that stretches and challenges our most academically able. We believe that the learning habits required to achieve academic success can be nurtured in all our students, and that even the most able can develop to even higher levels when set intellectual challenges and opportunities to think creatively.
This performance can be illustrated by comparing the performance of our most academically able students (those in the top sets/top third of their cohorts) in Years 11 and 13.
