Reflective statement My focus for my folio was my favorite toy as a kid, Birt. I explored the toy through the different lenses investigated in class. For the folio, I have chosen the most successful ones to be able to show my divergent thinking, use of media, and idea development. It includes two-dimensional, three-dimensional and time-based works. I used the inquiry learning model to guide me. My Favorite toy as a child Birt is used in a personal context because it has meaning to me from when I was a kid. It was a birthday present, and it was very fun to play with it. I have decided that to work with my favorite toy as the object. Birt was my favorite toy this is because it was from my favorite show ‘Sesame Street’, this is why I have a good connection to the object, this object was gifted to me for my birthday.

First Artwork This artwork is ‘falling’. I was influenced to do an artwork of Birt falling because the artist Michael Zavros and his art work (Falling, 2006). All of Michaels artworks have something in common they are all falling and this is why I was persuaded to do an artwork of my object falling.

Supporting evidence My first artwork of birt, I was experimenting with the concept of falling. After the artist Michael Zavros and his art work “Falling”. This was an abstract artwork showing the same aesthetic features as Michael. When expressing color in the artwork I had to ensure that the artwork was distinctive with my lines showing the detail. I was able to do this by sketching the outlines before coloring.

Second Artwork Showing beauty, what is beauty? Beauty is a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form. That pleases the aesthetic senses, especially sight. The artwork is showing ‘beauty’ By having curtain things such as color (flower), form (inviting appearance). These things are used for the art work to appear beautiful.

Supporting evidence • My second artwork of Birt, I was experimenting with the concept of falling. After the discovering the topic of beautify. This was an authentic artwork showing the same aesthetic features as love/beauty. When expressing color in the artwork I had to ensure that the artwork was distinctive with my lines showing the detail. I was able to do this by sketching the outlines before coloring. This is seen in my Supporting evidence photo.

Third Artwork This is an artwork of Birt my object close up. I was influenced to do a close up because I really wanted to show Birt’s face as the focal statement. Also because the head is the most detailed part of Birts body.

Supporting Evidence • My third artwork of Birt I was experimenting with the concept of ‘close up’. I got the inspiration via the artist Ester Curini. As she states “My paintings are based on the photos that I use as a reference”. Also using the concept of color I was able to show the aesthetic features of the face.

Fourth Artwork This is a painting of Birt my favorite toy growing up, and so when I was creating a painting of it I had decided to focus on the colors to better express the colors I had decided to use paint with multiple layers. The artwork by Jacob Lawrence, Workshop (Builders #1) 1974, uses colors such as Blue, Orange, Yellow and Black. In his artwork he is still able to show the whole aspect of the artwork with a limit of colors and so I had also challenged myself.

Artists and there impact • Michael Zavros, he is an artist from Australia who focuses on the media of painting, the artwork (Falling, 2006) was the key inspiration for my first artwork. I had decided to draw Birt falling to express the viewpoints that Michael shows. (Home. (2018). Michael Zavros. http://www.michaelzavros.com/) • Ester Curini, she is an artist from Italy who focuses of the media of painting she is able to do very detailed close ups of animals. Hence my artwork of birt being close up. (Curini, E. (2020). Ester Curini. Ester Curini. https://estercurini.com) •
