Project management skills are essential in a wide variety of professional roles, and can even be a wonderful asset in your personal life. You’ve been using your digital DSLR or digital mirrorless camera on automatic but now would like to learn about using its full creative potential. Darrius Willrich Darrius has been playing piano for 30 years and teaching for 20. He has taught music and piano at Seattle Central College, many of Seattle’s Community Centers and spent seven years as the jazz band instructor at Seattle Prep, his alma mater. Darrius is also a singer/songwriter with three self-produced albums. Darrius performed in Australia and Brazil and was a featured artist on the 2014 Capital Jazz Cruise along with Eric Roberson, Patti LaBelle, Lalah Hathaway and more. He has opened for Macy Gray, Tyrese and the Earth Wind & Fire/Chicago show most notably. Darrius is currently the keyboardist for Grammy AwardWinning hip hop jazz group, Digable Planets. Teaching provides Darrius a way to him reach more people with the message “Play in life, do what you love!” and give others a pathway to it.

Celia studied theatre at Cornish college on scholarship, graduating from the U.W. with a BA in theatre and a minor in communications. “Professor Fred” started his bad movie career in 1971 when he co-founded The Vintage American Ci n e ma S o ci e t y. I ns t ea d o f showing the usual pop-oriented movies like M.A.S.H. or Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, he screened Fred Astaire in Let’s Dance (with a live performance by a gaggle of tap dancing tots) and The Ghost of Frankenstein, starring Bela Lugosi (with a live intro by “The Count,” local TV horror host and legend, Joe Towey). In the early ’80s, he joined local film historian John Black to form the “The Backtrack Cinema Society” and screened Ed Wood’s Plan 9 from Outer Space at the now long-demolished Seattle Concert Theater and Glen or Glenda at Clifford’s On Broadway. He regularly hosts SCCtv’s Professor Fred’s Movie Marvels while annually screening upwards of 100 films at venues all over Seattle.

Schlock Cinema: When Life Hands You Lemons

This quarter, we explore a series of terrible movies about folks doing their best under incredibly adverse circumstances. First up, Paranoiac (1963) a young Oliver Reed stars in this spooky, moody and very British thriller about a twisted trio of siblings going mad over a gigantic inheritance. In Doomsday Machine (1972) Bobby Van (The Navy vs. The Night Monsters) leads a team of scientists sent to outer space to procreate because the earth is about to be incinerated. The species is doomed, as they’d rather bicker than woo. Oh, and the film was spliced together with an unrelated 1967 Sci-Fi movie featuring different actors, sets and story. Next, we visit Peacock (2010) where Cillian Murphy plays a small town bank clerk harboring a secret female identity. This double-life is publicly exposed when a train crashes into their home. Things get weird after that. Then it’s back to outer space for Queen of Blood (1966) featuring a stellar cast with Dennis Hopper, John Saxon and Basil Rathbone in route to Mars to rescue survivors of a crashed spacecraft—only to come face-to-face with a seductive, greenskinned, space vampire lady! PARKING INFORMATION For your convenience, parking for on-campus Continuing Education classes is included in the cost of tuition (with some exceptions). A parking permit will be emailed to you for use during your class time. A Continuing Education parking permit is required to park on campus anytime Monday through Friday. Please print and place on your dashboard. Parking permits are for use in any parking lot except for visitor lots. You may park in the Garage and the Southwest Lot in the evenings after 5pm. Parking is free on weekends, and no parking permit is needed at offcampus sites (with some exceptions). OFFICE HOURS
