Season 1.0 / Winter 2017-2018

2018 marks the ten year anniversary of Kelbourne Woolens and we are celebrating this milestone with a variety of exciting new products for you! We are delighted to introduce our first Kelbourne Woolens yarn, Andorra, to the market. Our years of crafting, working in yarn shops, speaking with our wholesale customers, and meeting thousands of knitters and crocheters at workshops, events, and book signings has inspired us to create a line of yarns with one idea in mind:

Kelbourne Woolens yarns are for those who love the craft as much as we do. Throughout the next year, expect to see Kelbourne Woolens present more yarns in classic colors made from natural fibers with affordability, longevity, and quality in mind. Thank you so much to all of our supporters over the last ten years. Here’s to many, many more!

Jenny

Courtney Kelley Jenny is a Bohus inspired yoke sweater with a comfortable amount of ease, making it easy to wear while still looking elegant. This traditional yoke sweater is knit from the top down, so is fun to knit right out of the gate. The sleeves have no shaping until a round of decreases just before the cuff. This creates a subtle gather at the wrist and just a little bit of ‘flounce,’ for an extra dash of femme. Yarn Kelbourne Woolens Andorra: snow white 105 (MC), 6 (6, 8, 9, 10) skeins, and lavender 516, mushroom 233, eggplant 504, and cloud gray 057, 1 skein each. Gauge 24 sts + 32 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Stockinette stitch on larger needles, after blocking. Needles US 3 (3 mm) and US 4 (3.5 mm). Size 40.5 (44.5, 48.5, 53, 56)” [103 (113, 123, 134.5, 142.5) cm] finished bust. Sweater is designed to be worn with 5-7” (12.5-17.75 cm) positive ease. Skills Intermediate stranded colorwork.

Patsy

Courtney Kelley Patsy is a Bohus inspired hat, using stranded colorwork incorporating purl stitches to create added depth and texture to the design. The colorwork is worked in a band following a K1, P1 ribbing, and then finished in the main color. Yarn Kelbourne Woolens Andorra: snow white 105 (MC), lavender 516, mushroom 233, eggplant 504, and cloud gray 057, 1 skein each. Gauge 24 sts + 32 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Stockinette stitch on larger needles, after blocking. Needles US 3 (3 mm) and US 4 (3.5 mm). Size 20” circumference, 8.5” deep. Skills Intermediate stranded colorwork.

Phyllis Courtney Kelley

Phyllis is worked in pieces from the bottom up. The sweater is worked in Old Shale Stitch with a seed stitch hem and yoke. The sleeves are picked up after seaming and finished with seed stitch edges. Yarn Kelbourne Woolens Andorra: lavender 516, 4 (5, 7, 8, 9) skeins. Gauge 1 repeat (17 sts) = 3” (7.75 cm) and 32 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Old Shale Stitch on larger needles, after blocking. Needles US 3 (3 mm) and US 4 (3.5 mm). Size 34.5 (40, 46.5, 52.5, 58.5)” [87.5 (101.5, 118, 133, 148.5) cm] finished bust. Sweater is designed to be worn with 4” (10 cm) positive ease. Skills Basic lace, mattress stitch.
