SUPPORTS A COMMUNITY SERVICES DIRECTORY

211 Alberta and 211 Saskatchewan are free, confidential 24/7 services connecting individuals to support services in both provinces. Lloydminster residents can receive assistance by calling/texting or visiting www.211.ca.

In 2022, the City of Lloydminster launched a Social Needs Assessment to connect with residents, stakeholders, and local partners to gain a better understanding of current social issues. From April 11 to May 30, 2022, the public was asked to complete the Lloyd Needs survey. Over 2,000 responses were collected, and more than 250 conversations were had. The issues identified through the Social Needs Assessment are complex and require a thoughtful and collaborative approach to be resolved. The Social Policy Framework was developed to create a common understanding of how communities, businesses, and governments can address community issues collectively. The Framework provides a common vision, values and roles, that provide everyone with the opportunity to contribute. The categorization of entries in this directory is based on the seven scopes of priorities from the Social Policy Framework, which are income inequality, housing and homelessness, transportation, access to health and social services, mental health supports, safety and security, and access to recreational opportunities. RECREATION ACCESS PROGRAM The Recreation Access Program is an income-based and accessible program designed to remove some of the financial barriers associated with using City of Lloydminster recreation and cultural facilities. SENIORS TAXI PROGRAM Seniors Taxi Program allows seniors 65+ to buy tickets that provide one-way transit to a location within city limits at a cost of $5 per trip. NEIGHBOURHOOD BLOCK PARTY PROGRAM The Neighbourhood Block Party Program encourages residents living on the same street or within an apartment building to create a gathering where they can build relationships and connect over food, fun and play. NEIGHBOURHOOD CONNECTOR PROGRAM The Neighbourhood Connector Program recruits volunteers to organize social gatherings and initiatives to improve the overall quality of life in their neighbourhoods. The main goal of this program is to bring neighbours together and reduce isolation by increasing friendships, sharing resources, and creating a sense of community.
