Adventure Playgrounds Delta is adding a little more adventure this summer with the addition of two summer adventure play spaces! North Delta Recreation Centre & South Delta Recreation Centre July 3–September 3, 2018 | 10:30 am-5 pm A play attendant will be scheduled from 10:30 am-5 pm every day to hand out tools for building and creating within the playground area. Adventure playgrounds are a free, drop-in activity offered throughout summer in Delta. Learn more about adventure playgrounds at delta.ca/adventureplay

The Parks, Recreation & Culture Commission advises Council and guides the Parks, Recreation & Culture Department on the planning, development, use, operation and service delivery at Delta’s recreation and park facilities. The Commission’s annual work plan represents a broad scope of programs and services available to the residents of Delta. A key focus is ensuring that Delta’s facilities, parks and open spaces are safe, affordable, and offer a variety of activities and events throughout the community. The Commission is a group of volunteers, who work tirelessly to provide excellent programs and services for our community.

How does your garden grow? Mayor Lois E. Jackson wants to know! Mayor Jackson’s Garden Contest for Kids is an annual event to encourage children ages 5–16 to be active outdoors and learn how to garden. Plant a flower or vegetable garden now, take a series of photos showing the progress of your blooms or crops, and send in your submission any time during the contest period of August 3–September 17, 2018. WHITE SPOT ROAD RACE – Sunday, July 8 Riders incorporate strength, strategy and endurance as they wind through the streets of Tsawwassen. UCI 1.2 sanctioning for both the men’s and women’s races ensures a strong international field of riders.

This race features a very fast course with riders reaching speeds of more than 70 km/hr.

Start and Finish: 53 Street, adjacent to Dennison Park, Tsawwassen Women: 9:30 am Men Pro 1, 2: 1 pm

Start and Finish: 84 Avenue – west of 114 Street North Delta Social Heart Women: 6:30 pm Men Pro 1, 2: 7:40 pm

BEST VIEWING: start/finish area on 53 Street, a lawn chair with friends and family who live along the race route or the festival grounds across from the finish line.

Start and Finish: Delta Street at Bridge Street Ladner Village Men Cat 3, 4: 5:10 pm Men Pro 1, 2: 7:25 pm Women: 6:15 pm BEST VIEWING: start/finish area at Delta Street and Bridge Street, ‘crash corner’ at Chisholm Street and Delta Street, 48 Avenue from Delta Street to Elliott Street, or any of the numerous restaurants along the race course.

JOIN THE 2018 TOUR DE DELTA VOLUNTEER TEAM! Volunteer for 1, 2, or all 3 days. Volunteers needed for flyer distribution, race set-up and takedown, registration, food services, road marshalling, billet hosting and more! All volunteers receive a Tour de Delta t-shirt and are invited to the volunteer appreciation dinner.
