Delta’s curbside collection programs help us recycle and compost much of the waste we produce, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions and combats climate change. OTHER PROGRAMS Free Mattress Recycling Voucher Mattresses and box springs are recyclable and are banned from garbage disposal in Metro Vancouver. A $15 per unit recycling fee LV FKDUJHG WR UHF\FOH D PDWWUHVV DW WKH 9DQFRXYHU /DQGȴOO D XQLW LV equal to one mattress or one box spring). To waive the recycling fee, Delta residents can apply for a mattress recycling voucher at City Hall or the North Delta Recreation Centre and take up to two mattress XQLWV WR WKH 9DQFRXYHU /DQGȴOO IRU UHF\FOLQJ IRU free. One voucher per household per year. Proof of residency is required.
Events Gardening and Sustainable Living Workshops Sign up for free workshops to learn about vegetable gardening, backyard composting, water wise gardening and more. Workshop dates are announced in the spring. Visit delta.ca/sustainableworkshops for more information. Free Compost Week Delta residents can pick up one cubic metre of compost for free IURP WKH 9DQFRXYHU /DQGȴOO IURP Saturday, March 28 to Sunday, April 5, 2020. Maximum one pick up per vehicle. Proof of residency is required.
