Improving Trust

Linking Incentives to the Bottom Line Free to those enrolled in HR Leadership This workshop focuses on incentive compensation plan design while emphasizing the importance of a “total compensation” strategy that supports organization success. Using actual corporate experiences, the presenter will guide participants through all aspects of incentive plan design, discuss the keys to plan success, and include a case study to illustrate the importance of careful plan design. Attendees will be encouraged to ask questions and discuss related business experiences that will add value to the class.

Developing trust is critical to leadership and to having a healthy organization. Only a third of Americans trust others and their own top managers. Increasing trust reduces rumors, negativity, gossip and destructive behavior while increasing motivation, teamwork and ethical behavior at all levels. Trust is the foundation for employee commitment and performance, and your influence can make a difference in the trust level in your organization. Share your challenges and learn the causes of low trust, the mistakes that well-intentioned leaders make and Covey’s 13 High Trust Behaviors.

Profitable Cultures: Creating Organizations that Maximize Results

Sales Process: A Winning Sales Process in a Changing Economy

Culture is what drives your business when you’re not there. For companies, culture impacts both top and bottom line profitability. Culture is typically deemed an intangible that can’t be measured or controlled. The truth is that culture is measurable, and that which can be measured can be changed.

Have you ever heard the statements that “sales happen” or “there is a lot of mystery to sales”? These statements are far from the truth in well-run sales organizations. The reality is that “sales is a process not an event”. Companies that have the fewest issues around revenue generation have the most purposeful and methodical approaches to sales.

In this workshop, we will explore the tangible effect that culture has on an organization and the impact different leadership styles have on defining culture. John Kaminski has melded leadership lessons from gurus Collins, Lencioni, Kotter & Heskett with the science of the Organizational Culture Inventory®, developed by Cooke & Lafferty and utilized worldwide.

How would you rate your organization? Is there room for improvement in your sales process? If you are a leader who is always looking to improve, then this workshop is for you. You will learn how to combine both the art and science of sales with the following: ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■

■ Learn how to create an organization that people want to be involved with - a constructive culture can increase your bottom line by upwards of 750%. ■ Complete a personal organizational culture assessment - gain insight on where your leadership skills are today and where you want them to be. ■ Gain a solid appreciation for how your leadership style defines your organization and understand the true impact of “it all starts at the top.”

Training Tip: Planning Your Learning By Glen Fahs, PhD, Training & Organization Development Consultant Cascade Employers Association When prioritizing your training needs, it’s often helpful to use the journalists’ framework of answering Who, What, When, Where, Why and How. Who: Most organizations give training priority to managers and professionals, often overlooking frontline employees who typically have less training and education and who may benefit both mentally and emotionally. Employers who train all employees well are viewed as leaders who care and employees will in turn return that loyalty. What: Two key skills in organizational success are customer service and teamwork. Is it time to strengthen the bonds you have with internal and external customers? Whether they have leadership roles or not, your employees will have a better approach to work if they learn: ■ How to deal with difficult people ■ How to minimize negativity, rumor and gossip ■ How to set, support and track goals ■ How to disagree constructively and use a win-win approach to conflict resolution When: Going into a new role is a perfect time for training, since the individual is anxious to improve their competence. Some employers see Most important determinants of lasting value from training the value of providing new employees a week or more of orientation before they are expected to know their jobs. Employees need to know the 1. Strong partnership between organization’s mission, vision, values, resources, policies, and procedures management and the trainer on soon after arrival -- preferably getting a start during the hiring process; the front end. however, frequent short sessions work better than long ones. 2. Effective preparation of learners by their supervisors so they Where: In-house training is usually conducted on-site, but investing in enter the sessions committed to a retreat setting, hotel or other off-site meeting space can get people gaining specific skills. “out of the box” and away from distractions. It is illuminating how well employees are able to perform when they can’t run to a supervisor with 3. Follow up by supervisors so the every issue. end of a training session is just the beginning. Why: Training helps prevent lawsuits, major conflicts, and accidents. Yes, safety experts say a positive organizational culture is a powerful force for safety. Training also develops clarity, commitment and better ways of getting the job done. Research shows that “opportunities to learn and grow” and “management support for development” improve retention, innovation, customer loyalty, productivity and profitability. How: Make it interactive and relevant. Rather than re-inventing the wheel, the best common approach is to work with a consultant who specializes in what you need. Public workshops help handle individual needs and give exposure to a wide variety of experiences. In-house training builds relationships, addresses team issues and supports people who are experiencing challenging changes. Make sure the consultant customizes before and during the training so the topics deal with real issues.
