Macbeth

‘By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes’. Student, Sami Hundal will be directing this 16th century Russian adaptation of Shakespeare’s most bloody tragedy. Set in the grey and uninviting towns of the Russian countryside, Macbeth - a warrior - part of an Eastern Orthodox clan, encounters three banished priests who now scavenge the battlefields and provide the prophecy that will incite Macbeth’s lust for power and Duchy. A play that is embedded within our history, a play that highlights the problems, detriments and deaths that the greed for power can cause - Macbeth is just as important now as... well, as it’s always been. This naturalistic adaptation with elements of supernatural expressionism proves to expose the horror and pain within this classic piece of Shakespeare, with a barren, minimalist and feudal Russia as its backdrop.

Remote

You know back in the day there would have been wolves here. And that’s us. We’re the wolves now. And it’s important people know that. A boy called Antler steps out of his front door and throws his phone on the ground. He stamps on it. He then climbs the tallest tree in the park. He doesn’t want to be found, not by anyone. Seven teenagers’ lives all intertwine over the course of a single evening as they make their way through the park on a seemingly normal Autumn’s night. Remote is a play about protest, power and protecting yourself. Fourth Form and Remove Form students from Bedford School will be performing this play for young people, commissioned by the National Theatre of London.
