farm in uszka - degree project 2011

The plan of the Community Farm in Uszka is designed in collaboration with the A Development and Social Welfare. The Association’s aim is to provide possibiliti ance to members of the impoverished, unemployed rural population who own la farm would complete agricultural and educational tasks as well. People who co - in exchange - receive seeds, advice and long-term support to assure they can own land. On the farm they grow herbs, vegetables, fruit and have poultry, goats mer they can accommodate student groups and visitors from other countries. D the program, instead of a permanent building there is a structure which allows extensions and changes in its volume. The result is two long houses where all be “under one roof.

Uszka is a little village with 360 souls. It can be found in an under-developed region in Eastern Hungary where inhabitants are mosty unemployed and live in poverty so improving welfare is also an aspect of the project. There is a lack of work opportunities but the demand for rural goods keep increasing. The 1 hectare site with two ramshackle old houses is owned by an agronomist whose intention is to create a knowledge basis of farming and establish a network for supply and demand. The agriculture on the farm and the farm buildings as well are a model for a sustainable lifestyle for that particular region. a tipical house extension in the village: the building grows to fulfill new functions - the materials are heterogenius but everything is homogenic whitewashed

floorplans and structure The Community has two long sites in the village. The relationship of the two sites, the garden and the complexity of the function inspired me. i was looking for additions in the region - how do people develop their traditional houses. Though I merged the two sites I kept the structure of it - I designed two long houses. At the end of the sketch-phase I came up with an open floorplan: I created a floorplan for the fully operating farmbuildings and an empty one - with the only necessary loadbearing columns and walls. The designed column-structure welcomes spontaneous building, users can be involved by building self-designed buliding parts, they fill up the columnforest. Whitewashed columns hold the thatch, the rooms fill the gaps between the columns. The altering height of the arris and the changing width of the house create variable spaces. Raw concrete floor, wooden columns and roofing can be insulated where necessary. Materials for spontaneous building can be whitewashed brick, wooden panes, linen, etc. The two houses are open towards the garden, the space between them can be used as community place. I am for participation design but in this case the first step has to be top-down to create community.

tower project competition description

The aim of our project is to give sustainable development solution for a derelict block of flats and its community. We take an existing building and its inhabitants as the basis to exploit and build on local characteristics. Our goal is to establish an ecologically, socially and economically sustainable system. The building is situated in the industrial district of Veszprém, Hungary. The former workers hostel contains 17m2 capsule spaces. No gas heating, waste management, adequate sewage system, elevator service is provided, electricity and public light is scarce. Health, safety and hygienic standards are poor. Inhabitants are mainly unemployed people. MOME ECOLAB members: Barcza Dániel, Berzicza Sára, Fehér Bori, Fodor Rita, Gunther Zsolt, Holányi Kati, Kovács Bori, Nagy Edit, Mészáros Zsuzska, Oravecz Júlia, Urbán Orsi

masdar green city exhibition installation

Due to the sustainability requirements and the limited time of the exhibition our design focuses on the recycleability. The materials used at the exhibition have to serve its target but their afterlife is the same importance. The exhibition shall be built up, it is operating succesfully, then it will disappear. Important question: where is the material?

project description The recycleablitiy is ensured by the protection of the paper walls with glass surface which is at the same time suggest the purity of technology. After the exhibition the paper gets back to its original destination, the offices of Masdar, where they will be reused and recycled. The installation draws your attention to the importance of the paperless document management system, these are the last consumable papers until the entire change-over. The glass and steel elements shall appear clearly, they can be smelted or reused after the exhibition. Part of the furniture (desks, tables) shall be built with the same technology like walls and tare reuseable in 100%, they are functional and the seats are of high quality, comfortable design furnitures.

“songs from the bathroom”

The indie-pop band Hó Márton és a Jégkorszak asked me to design the scenery for their debut album release party. The album’s title is “Songs from the bathroom” because they recorded the most of their music in various bathrooms. The musicians entered the stage through the shower cabin.

inspiration

The design of the contemporary market place is inspired by the suspen community-designed shading structures seen on traditional moroccan baza location

The scaffolding-like building lets the traffic flow through the arcade-like m commerce on the square and the ground floor, peaceful conversations on t solution

The triangle of the site is in contact with its broader environment as the rope st the neighbouring houses. The structure weighs about 2 tons and hangs on framework of the buildings.
