ABSOLUTELY / SOCIALS THIRST FOR DESIGN very merry bunch descended on the V&A for the launch of the London Design Festival. Amidst such wonders as the Barber & Osgerby immersive kinetic sculpture (in conjunction with BMW), guests were treated to an array of scrumptious canapes (like those from Cerviche Peruvian Kitchen) and flutes of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut Champagne. So much so, that if anyone left hungry or thirsty, they were definitely on a designer diet. ◆

That said, the mood was lifted somewhat when she berated her husband, Carletto, for not even having read it! The Marchioness of Milford Haven, Santa Montefiore and the Countess of Balfour were all in attendance, slurping champagne and nibbling smoked salmon blinis, and a record number of books were sold on the night to boot. ◆
