This wonderful trip took place from 8th July to 19th July 2010. We all gathered up at the airport. We all said ‘Good Bye’ to our families. After six hours flight, the plane landed in Korea. We were going to transfer into another plane. In the waiting time we walked around and took many photos at the airport. The flight to Istanbul was a very tiring ten hours long one. When we arrived in Istanbul it was 8pm in local time in Turkey. We met with Mr. Davut, our teacher at Zaman, at the airport and he took us to his house. We had a delicious food for dinner and we slept immediately after dinner. We got up at 8am in the next morning. We went out to have a great breakfast on the top of the hill called Camlica which we couldsee the spectacular view of Istanbul. We also took photos over there. After that unforgettables breakfast we walked around and went I think it was the most wonderful and unforgettable experience for me. It was not just only fun, but also educational. Therefore, I think it was a big chance for me to join this trip. Chhat Chhen - 10-B

The next morning we went to visit some places of interest and went shopping after breakfast. On the 3rd day in Bursa, we planned to go to Uludag, a beautiful famous mountain for skiing. We got up early and I really had a good time in Turkey. It was so interesting to see a different country and culture. Everything was perfect during the trip. It was so nice and we had a chance to see many places in Istanbul, the most famous city in Turkey, and Ankara the capital city of Turkey. Ponnarith and Kimpotha – 9A

Trip to turkey was peaceful and enjoyable but for me the most interesting part was the beautiful view along the road from Istanbul to Ankara. We visited different cities and the people in these cities were very friendly. They invited us to their houses. The food we ate in their houses was so delicious. Buntong Yun- 10 -B

I

n a wonderful early morning, on 24th of September, 10C had a trip to Nataya Resort, the first trip to Nataya in the school history. After all of our friends came, we left Phnom Penh at 5 o’clock. On the way to Nataya, We were laughing and enjoying the ride. Since most of us didn’t have breakfast yet we decided to stop at a restaurant called Thmor Sor. We stopped there to buy some bread, soft drinks, and snacks. My friend Punnreay didn’t recognize where the Resort was located so we asked the residents on the way to Nataya and then they told us that when we see the road to Bokor Mountain we will see the Resort advertisement on the right. We arrived at Nataya Resort at 11 o’clock eventually. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any available room in the resort. Then Mr. Enis, our homeroom teacher, dis- cussed with us what we should do to find a hotel. There was an idea from Rotboros that we should go to Kompongsom. The guide of the resort introduced their facilities and activities in the resort. While we were talking to each other, most of us listened to him and started to take photos.

After that we walked through a long bridge. We spent nearly an hour at Nataya resort. At 12 o’clock afternoon we left Nataya Resort and continued our holiday to Kompongsom. On the way everybody slept because they were tired of walking. It took a few hours to reach Kompongsom. We didn`t stop in any place because we had to be quick to book a hotel. In the late afternoon, we arrived at Kompongsom. We slept at Golden Sand Hotel. It had a big room with five beds and three bathrooms. Our homeroom teacher gave us an hour to rest. While resting everybody was playing games, especially Warcraft. After an hour we went to Orcheutel beach to swim and have lunch. The bread with tuna was delicious.

Then we

got ready to swim. We had fun at the beach while we were climbing the balloon and riding on a banana boat. The most exciting one was the banana boat, many of us tried twice. Before going to our

rooms, everybody jumped into the pool and yelled loudly. We swam for an hour and went back to our room. At night we went to Orcheutel to have a barbecue at the beach. It was very nice time at the beach; we also set off fireworks before dinner. In dinner time we had a piece of grilled beef each. Beside barbecue we had Tom Yam Bangkong too; it tasted hot but delicious. Moreover,

the food was so much that we couldn’t finish it all but we were still determined to eat the rest of it. In the morning we got up at 6 o’clock and had breakfast at the hotel. Our driver said that on the way back home we could visit Thmor Roung waterfall. At noon we arrived at Thmor Roung. We found our kiosk near the waterfall. The waterfall was very cool. We swam there for two hours and then turned back to our kiosk for lunch. Nearly all of us slept on the way back home but a few of my friends including Narot, Ratanak, and Rithy played a game in the bus. Finally we arrived in Phnom Penh at 6 o’clock. We saw that our parents were waiting for us in front of the school. Punnreay Pal and Kang Sovannarot 10 C

On 29th of October, 9B had a field trip to Kirirom. We were 13 including our homeroom teacher Mr.Aslan. We felt so excited and a little bit nervous. We went there with a mini-school bus. It took two hours to get there. On the way to Kirirom around 8 am, it was quite silent in the bus because majority of the class were sleeping. But one of my friends Pannha annoyed everyone in the car and said “I don’t want anyone to sleep because it’s our first trip. I hate being quiet when I’m traveling on the car.” From that time on, we started becoming naughty. We sang songs in the minibus, told stories, made jokes and played some games. Our homeroom teacher also joined us. We arrived at Kirirom Resort at 9am. First we wanted to play rope sliding. Unfortunately, there was nobody and we didn’t know the reason. Therefore, we were determined to go back to the restaurant. Then we rented bikes and rode it. We swam in the swimming pool. They dove into the water and played with the ball in the swimming pool happily. But I didn’t swim because I thought that it was too hot and I could get sunburn. Anyway, I played computer games with my friends inside the restaurant. Around 12pm it was time to eat. There was a lot of

delicious food such as steak, salad, fried chicken, fried rice and a special soup that my homeroom teacher ordered. It was “Tong Yam.” After lunch, I took a rest while others continued swimming in the pool and playing games. I took their 14 November 2010 Zaman International School - High School Newspaper

pictures. Then, my friend and I swam. We had a lot of fun together. Afterwards, one of us suggested that we should invite our homeroom teacher to join us in the pool. He refused and we decided to throw him into the pool. And we did the same to others, those

Everything seemed ok at first, as if everything were taken care of by our homeroom teacher. We didn’t meet up all together; first there were 6 of us including our teacher. Once we got there we started up with carrying all the food and drinks that our teacher prepared, and, like I said, it seemed like everything working out fine. Everyone was doing their parts: some of us were still carrying items, some of us started to put their gloves on to chop down the fish, some of us went down again to bring some music with small little speakers to rock the dormitory roof of. Others were, not surprisingly, playing ps2. In contrast, our teacher was preparing to make fire for our barbeque when we realized it was harder than it seemed. Our first try was starting the fire by paper. With only a second flame it vanished into thin air; it didn’t even heated up the coal so we didn’t expect any real fire. On our next try we thought that we didn’t decorate it well enough so we tried again with the paper without realizing it is just a dumb idea (=_=). With tears and sweat rolling down our face and shoulders we tried another way. We managed to find dead wood on the front yard of the dormitory. We took some of that and continued our fire starting mission again. We wasted all our woods we gathered. Well first isn’t always perfect right?? So we tried again, and work out pretty well because the last try was lack of wood. On our success we were jumping all around the roof top with excitement and everything. We celebrated our accomplishment of starting the fire with slow music and some real melody of guitar. It was about 15 minutes but it was a time of our life. If we take a look at some other part of the dorm we could see how hard our friends were struggling with the football 16 November 2010 Zaman International School - High School Newspaper

video game on ps2. Anyway, after a few minutes we decided to start barbecuing, since it was already 10:30 am. Our barbeque was a success. We were able to barbecue two handful dishes of sausages and sticks of mushrooms: it was a pure skill of our teacher. Then we had a pot full of delicious chicken. The chef and his young assistants tried them first, of course. It takes sweat and strength to pull it off so you can say it was very delicious indeed. Actually we made a mistake; we accidentally put salt water thinking that we would make the chicken taste better. We forgot that the burning flame below wouldn’t go well with water.

All of our hard work was gone to waste but our teacher managed to buy some gasoline and rekindle the fire. At that time, it wasn’t as hard as our last combat against the sticks ad branches; then we were dealing with flame. It went well and continued on and on cooking until all the troops finally came up and ate their meal. After a few minutes when the O level students finally arrived everyone went downstairs and vanished, gone, disappeared, nowhere to be found. Then our teacher started to wonder where all of his students went, just a few seconds after everyone came up with a birthday cake and

sang a happy birthday song to their homeroom teacher. What a wonderful moment! Thanks to our homeroom teacher’s assistant. He finished things up with the barbeque so that we can all sit together having a nice meal and celebrating our teacher’s birthday. It was a fun time indeed. Of course we had music to lead the celebration, everything was awesome after the crowd and noise we had a beautiful silence with the singing melody from our classmate and his guitar. Classy! After the fun and tiring day we went separately back to our homes. We all hope of getting a nice chance like this again someday… Rathanak Khy 11A

10F’s first activity of the year was to visit Parkway on the 2nd of October. We were all supposed to meet up at Parkway at 9am. I arrived a little before 9 and Miss Shirin, our assistant teacher, came afterwards. We decided to have breakfast and wait for the others at Park Café, which is located right in front of the Parkway. When we had finished our breakfast, we decided to check out the newly opened bookstore right next to the café. After some time, we went back to the Parkway and went upstairs to where the bumper car was. After a few rounds, the rest of us

came. Mrs. Grace came as well along with her wonderful daughter and son. We bought some more tickets and played. We had so much fun! We decided to play bowling after our tickets were finished. When Phanninath realized that she had lost her phone we searched the whole place, inside the cars, under the metal boards on the both side but we still couldn’t find it. Mrs. Grace left Phanninath talking to the owner of the place with her brother whom she phoned a little after she realized that her phone was gone.We had lots of fun while playing bowling; lots of laughter

filled the room. Some of us were also hungry since it was already noon so they ordered instant noodles from the food vendor outside the bowling alley. Some others were just obsessed with bowling. Even though we weren’t the best bowlers that day, we had fun and that’s what really mattered. Phanninath joined us as well after a little while. We played for about an hour or so then we went back to drive bumper cars. We came back to the café for a late lunch after we decided it was enough for the day. Akchhara Chharom 10F

His mother told us the story the day after. Sakkora was in junior high school and was excited and eager about participating in a day of Special Olympics events. While his parents watched expectantly from the stands, he ran and won the first race. He was proud of his ribbon and the cheers from the crowd. He ran in the second race. Just at the finish line, when he again would have won, he stopped, then stepped off the track. His parents gently questioned him. "Why did you do that, Sakkora? If you had continued running, you would have won another race." Sakkora innocently replied, "But, mom, I already have a ribbon. Rathanak didn't have a ribbon yet." 22 November 2010
