What is MS? MS or Multiple Sclerosis is an unceasing, frequently immobilizing disease which strikes the central nervous system, consisting, brain, optic nerves and spinal cord. numbness, fatigue, imbalance in walking, dysfunction of bladder, bowel, visual problems, vertigo and dizziness, pain, change in emotions. Less common signs include, speech problems, difficulty in swallowing, headache, seizures, tremors, itching and problem in breathing or respiration. Treatment for MS No particular treatment is for MS. As the treatment has to be specifically focused on the attacks, treating the symptoms is difficult because people with mild signs do not need treatments for MS. If the medicines are used for a long period, it causes high blood sugar, increased infections, cataracts. The exchange of plasma is used for the serious symptoms. Various other strategies in treatments for MS are: Getting treated with physical therapist, who teaches you with strengthening and stretching exercises. He shows the usage of regular device, which makes the performance of daily tasks much easier. Relaxation of muscles is important for the people having multiple MS. In this condition, the patient experiences severe pain that is uncontrollable, spasms or stiffness of muscles, specially legs. Hence, relaxing the muscles is important to improve the spasticity of the muscles. Some of the drugs are also prescribed for reducing fatigue or tiredness. Other medicines are also given by the practitioner for pain, depression, bowel or bladder controlling problems which are also related to multiple sclerosis. Therefore, following your doctor’s advice in the treatment of MS is very important. Apart from the medicines, total body exercise prescribed by the physical therapist should also be followed for leading a pain free life.
