5. Remove: • drive belt cover Refer to “PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SHEAVES” in chapter 4. • console • passenger seat • driver seat Refer to “SEATS, ENCLOSURE, HOOD AND CARGO BED” in chapter 8. CLEANING THE SPARK ARRESTER 1. Clean: • spark arrester ▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼

WARNING • Select a well-ventilated area free of combustible materials. • Always let the exhaust system cool before performing this operation. • Do not start the engine when removing the tailpipe from the muffler. a. Remove the bolts 1. b. Remove the tailpipe 2 by pulling it out of the muffler. c. Tap the tailpipe lightly with a soft-face hammer or suitable tool, then use a wire brush to remove any carbon deposits from the spark arrester portion of the tailpipe and the inner contact surfaces of the muffler. d. Insert the tailpipe 2 into the muffler and align the bolt holes. e. Insert the bolt 1 and tighten it. f. Start the engine and rev it up approximately twenty times while momentarily creating exhaust system back pressure by blocking the end of the muffler with a shop towel. g.
