peaks. The deficiency of oxygen at this height did leave the trekkers breathless and exhausted, but team spirit and will power kept them going. Finally the fourth day was from Ghangaria back to Govind Ghat. The gutsy group were back in Vizag by 13 July. Though the trek was no cakewalk, the team went through a rigorous training almost one month before embarking on the tour, which included daily outdoor walks, aerobic sessions, long walks along the beach and treks up the Kailasa hill; till finally they were in shape to attempt the remarkable trek. Their only plus point was loads of enthusiasm and determination. They wanted a destination that had a bit of adventure but definitely within India and with a bit of spiritualism as an added incentive. Hence they decided on the Valley of Flowers full of beauty and adventure with Hemkund and Haridwar with spiritual significance.

The tour leader was Shaheda Mehdi who describes the Valley of Flowers National Park as an outstandingly beautiful high altitude Himalayan

valley

with

breathtakingly

beautiful meadows of alpine flowers, within which the locals believe that fairies reside. In high spirits with the successful and safe return of the troop, she congratulates them all;

"Kudos to all the ladies from Foot Steppers and RCVC who undertook and successfully completed this very difficult and challenging trek!"
