Darren Ramalho of the University of California, Los Angeles. Also during the week, Star Parker engaged the crowd by sharing her personal journey from being a “welfare queen” to a successful business woman. She urged the young leaders to make a difference, stating, “You change one, you change the world. You touch one, you’ve touched the world.” New York Times bestselling author and YAF alumnus Jason Mattera spoke on his latest book, Hollywood Hypocrites. After his entertaining and humorous speech, Mattera took photos with students and signed copies of his books. Another star YAF alumnus, Peter Schweizer, wrapped up the week-long conference with a speech about preserving America and putting our great nation first. The New York Times bestselling author told students to stay involved with the Foundation and encouraged them to take their activism to the next level. Students left the conference inspired to go back to their campuses 14

and advance the ideas they learned throughout the week. University of Arkansas student Daniel Plume remarked, “This conference has given me the tools I need to help others see the value of conservative ideas. The National Conservative Student Conference challenged me to take a stand and fight for the values I hold dear.”
