Travel to Satoyama-mina and see the vast foothills and mountain ranges. Visit fields that were once nurtured by farmers and foresters. Get down and dirty in terrace paddy fields, where you’ll help cultivate rice. First start with paddy plowing, where dry paddies are plowed in a process called Taokoshi. Next plant the seedlings in the paddy while loudly voicing encouragement for growth, then weed the paddies and paths so nourishment boosts rice growth.
