DISCONNECTING MEANS RECONNECTING THERE’S NOTHING BETTER than spending the summer in the great outdoors - swimming, hiking, skiing, horseback riding, fishing, making music, creating art and roasting marshmallows by a campfire. Camp Grady Spruce gives campers an opportunity to interact, face-to-face, with peers and role models from multiple states, as well as countries, each summer. Days are filled with activities that engage, challenge and develop kids of all ages. Evenings are filled with storytelling, strengthening camaraderie, and a star studded sky so expansive it will cause meaningful self-reflection.

GO OUT ON A LIMB COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING Choose from a variety of activities that require multiple attempts to master, prompting campers to face their fears,BRAZOS RIVER TRIP head-on. KIDS DISCOVER THEIR COMPETENCE AND CONFIDENCE WHEN THEY TRY, AND TRY AGAIN, SPECIALTY: SKI, HORSE, SAILING AND ACHIEVE. Developing the camp spirit is also an important part of each child’s experience. Before and after crazy, fun packed days, we take time for reflection and gratitude. WHEN YOUTH UNPLUG FROM TECHNOLOGY, THEY INVEST IN EACH OTHER. We encourage an environment of authenticity so campers are free to be themselves.
Overnight Camp available to 6 year olds during Holiday Party week
Our mission here at Camp Grady Spruce is to deliver exceptional outdoor programs that inspire, build, and strengthen relationships with God, His creation and each other. We hire the highest quality staff to instill our core values of respect, responsibility, caring, and honesty into all we do. Overnight Camp is available to girls & boys from ages 6-16. Transportation is available from the SMU College Campus in Dallas.

Specialties (for ages 10+) Campers in a specialty will spend two hours every day focused on that particular activity. Campers can choose from three specialties per week: Sailing, Watersports, or Equestrian.
Trips (for ages 13+) Brazos River Trip After learning how to pack their gear, perfecting their canoeing stroke, campers will enjoy a change in scenery on this overnight campout. Two days. One night. 20 miles of paddling adventure! Nomad Camping Program Take advantage of the full outdoor experience! Be a pioneer and check out the varied frontiers where you can camp overnight. Camp cot, hammock or on the ground, you’ll experience it with this group. Palo Duro Canyon Trip We will provide all camping gear for this three day, two night excusion that will create lifelong bonds and memories. Experience Texas history! Hike the land where cattle drives once crossed. Sleep looking at the same canyon walls cowboy drovers saw.
Counselor-In-Training (for ages 15-16)
Next step: For every camper who wants to work at camp, this is the next progression. Learn what it takes to be a counselor, and what it takes to get the job. Skills learned during this fun three week long program are crutial when applying for and working at other jobs.
Building Character and Life Skills What is even more important than fun? Our activities give each camper an opportunity to build confidence and PRACTICE character in their actions as being responsible part of a cabin group. We nurture character development in campers by teaching the values of respect, caring, responsibility and honesty.

OUTDOOR EDUCATION Each year we partner with over 96 schools from 34 districts to reinforce school based subjects and to expand on the school’s natural science curriculum. Here, every student will walk away with a greater understanding and with first hand experience of concepts learned in school.
