Arriving at Cleethorpes ...
“The AhrekeT”isamehuhsA“auelmrtev,vdxv,vv uh-sash”AenmrenarT”euphTT
“The Ark” is a multilevel, elevated mixed-use linear park in Cleethorpes, spanning Cleethorpes Station to a new substation, and distributes electricity generated by localised renewable energy sources. A dynamic pavilion, ‘The Nucleus’, sits on the substation, moving in rhythm with levels of available energy. This active intervention decentralises electrical distribution and increases the community’s ownership of their energy sources.
Locals witness a page of the town as they reconnect with the Cleethorpes beach again !

A new relationship with the community...
The North Sea is integral to the way of life of many on the UK’s east coast, supporting good jobs in shipping, fishing, oil and gas, and in the formation of important networks and touristic landscapes. In the present century with growth in industrial activity and vastly expanded technical capabilities of states using the North Sea, resources are near the point of overexploitation. The consequence - a narrative of declining seaside towns that so heavily rely on these traditional industries. In the backdrop of this narrative, new opportunities arise in emerging industries of green energy production of the North Sea such as offshore winds. Coastal regions, like the town of Cleethorpes, are ideally placed to benefit from the coming renewable energy boom.

“The eA rk
Havd a H avd a
Havada, Turkish for “in the air”, an underground museum that will be the shuttle across the loom that knit the strongs of heaven and earth into a new Kilim, a heirloom of Cappadocia. Burrowed away for centuries, the Cappadocians have taken to mastering the skies with their renascent vessels, naming all there is under the celestial dome as their own. They were underground but they were endowed with an unparalleled abundance of space. Havada turns this wealth into the reversed museum citadel. They are still underearth, still afloat. The vernacular landscape of the underground cities of Derinkuyu is encapsulated into an spatial experience of modern architectural re-interpretations.

When investigating the issues surrounding poverty across the UK in relation to social housing schemes, an often neglected group are household of families with multiple children. The proposal therefore seeks to develop a modular, pre-fabricated social housing scheme with multiple-bedroom flats (with choices of simplex
and duplexes) as well as an adjacent kindergarten in hopes to not only fill in gaps in the current social housing supply, but also break the malicious cycle of poverty with access to education. The tetrislike interlocking module system enables easy future expansion, with appropriate voids for open greenery and outdoor landscape.
